A meeting between representatives of Ukraine, Western and Southern countries on the so-called peace formula of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has produced no results. Bloomberg reported that the meeting took place in Riyadh on December 16, 2023, in complete secrecy.
No significant progress was made at the meeting, Bloomberg reported. The news agency said the meeting was aimed at “gathering support for Kiev’s conditions for holding peace talks with Russia.” The source noted that while Saudi Arabia, India and Türkiye attended the meeting, China, Brazil and the UAE did not send any representatives.
Speaking in mid-November 2022 at the G20 Summit, Mr. Zelensky announced that Kiev had a 10-point "peace plan" that included nuclear security, food and energy, an "equivalent" prisoner exchange and the restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity. President Zelensky noted that Kiev insisted that international security guarantees be provided to Ukraine and had even developed a draft agreement. Mr. Zelensky added that Ukraine wanted to achieve the establishment of an international mechanism for compensation for damage with Russian assets.
According to RT, in the context of Kiev constantly drawing attention to its peace formula, they are said to have continuously rejected initiatives proposed by third parties. In particular, when speaking about the initiatives of the Vatican and Brazil, Mr. Zelensky affirmed that Ukraine does not need intermediaries.
Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the so-called peace plan is another US playbook for fueling conflicts in Europe. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also noted that Zelensky's statements about a peaceful solution are being made without taking into account current realities.
