Lao Ministry of Security works at Nghe An Police

(Baonghean.vn) - On April 1, 2014, within the framework of the visit and work in Nghe An, Comrade Kieng Kham In Pheng Tha Vong - Deputy Director General of the General Department of Police, Head of the representative office of the Lao Ministry of Security in Vietnam and the working delegation had a working session with Nghe An Police on issues related to border security between Nghe An and 3 provinces of Laos, especially the situation of illegal immigration. Working with the delegation were Colonel Vu Chien Thang - Deputy Director of the Provincial Police and leaders of a number of related functional departments.

At the meeting, Colonel Vu Chien Thang - Deputy Director of the Provincial Police Department informed about some situations of migration to Laos of a part of Mong people in Nghe An, the results of the work to prevent illegal exit to Laos as well as the coordination between the Police and Border Guards of the two sides in ensuring border security. Accordingly, in 2013, Nghe An Police and the Police of Xieng Khouang, Hua Phan, Bolykhamxay provinces of Laos have well organized the work of grasping, forecasting the situation, exchanging information on the plots of various types of crimes, especially transnational crimes, wanted criminals hiding in the border areas of the two countries; Well done the work of checking and controlling entry and exit activities, preventing and handling people and vehicles violating border regulations...

The two sides agreed on a number of solutions to prevent illegal immigration.

Regarding migration, the two sides agreed that this is a rather complicated issue; most of these people have difficult economic lives and low educational levels... Therefore, there needs to be thorough solutions to ensure the strengthening of the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos. The top priority is to protect the legitimate rights and interests of free migrants, create favorable conditions for them to stabilize their lives and integrate into the economic, cultural and social life of their place of residence; and prevent bad organizations, individuals or groups from affecting security and order in the border areas of the two countries.

Head of the Lao Ministry of Security Representative Office in Vietnam - Colonel Kieng Kham In Pheng Tha Vong highly appreciated the coordination in performing the task of ensuring and fighting against crime in recent years between Nghe An Police and the Police of the three provinces of Xieng Khouang, Bolikhamxay and Hua Phan, and hoped that in the coming time, Nghe An Police and the Police of the three provinces of Laos would further promote the achievements and results, regularly exchange information, and closely coordinate to maintain national security and the fight against crime, especially drug crimes, human trafficking and illegal immigration.

On this occasion, Colonel Vu Chien Thang, on behalf of the Board of Directors and officers of Nghe An Police, sent congratulations to Comrade Kieng Kham In Pheng Tha Vong and the working delegation on the occasion of the traditional Lao New Year, wishing the cooperative relationship between the police forces of the two countries to continue to have sustainable development steps.
