Continuing the joy from the Champions League quarter-final draw (Real met an unequal opponent Wolfsburg), coach Zinedine Zidane and his team had a convincing performance in front of more than 70,000 spectators at the Bernabeu. The attacking trio of Benzema, Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo all scored, along with young striker Jese, bringing a 4-0 victory when hosting Sevilla, the team ranked fifth in La Liga and the reigning Europa League champions.
The big win in round 30 not only helped Real reduce the gap with second-placed Atletico to one point and with Barca to 10 points, but also had great significance in terms of spirit. In two weeks, in the next match in La Liga, Zidane and his team will visit the Nou Camp. A good result in this match will have a positive impact on Real in the final stage of the season.
Compared to recent matches, the win over Sevilla was much more convincing for Real fans. Sevilla are currently chasing a Champions League spot, six points behind fourth-placed Villarreal. Not only that, they have just qualified for the Europa League quarter-finals and have a great chance of defending their crown. Taking three points and scoring four goals against an opponent like Sevilla shows that Real are gradually improving under Zidane's guidance.
Besides the joy of the young coach, Real also had another Frenchman who was equally happy: striker Karim Benzema. Having just gone through a difficult week when he continued to be investigated for blackmailing his teammates and was eliminated from the French team, Benzema was in good form as if to defend himself. This striker not only stood out with a beautiful volley to open the score in the sixth minute, but also shone with a series of favorable passes to his teammates. From such a pass in the 66th minute, Bale scored to make the score 3-0.
Compared to Benzema, Ronaldo was somewhat less prominent. The Real star wearing the number 7 shirt made many shots but most of them hit goalkeeper Sergio Rico, or went wide. Ronaldo only scored one goal when he managed to tap the ball in after a pass from the right wing like Danilo set up in the 64th minute. Six minutes earlier, the former best player in the world even missed a penalty with a shot over the bar. This was the situation after Luka Modric was illegally blocked in the Sevilla penalty area.

The home team also missed a penalty. It was after Varane pulled down Adil Rami in the penalty area in the 26th minute. Kevin Gameiro was too inexperienced when he took the shot from the 11m mark, which was easily saved by goalkeeper Navas. If Sevilla had scored in this situation, the match result could have been different.
In terms of individual form, Bale was deservedly named the best player of the match. The winger was effective with his crosses from the right wing, and also shone when he moved into the middle to threaten Sevilla's goal. In addition to the pass for Benzema to open the scoring and the direct goal to make it 3-0, Bale also had a solo shot that hit the post. His performance in the win over Sevilla showed that Bale is ready to join Benzema and Ronaldo in the El Clasico against Barca in two weeks.
At the end of the match, young striker Jese continued to show his talent for scoring goals as a substitute. Replacing Bale in the 70th minute, this player only needed more than ten minutes to "warm up" to score his fifth goal of the 2015-2016 La Liga season: a shot after the ball bounced off a challenge between James Rodriguez and a Sevilla defender. This was also Jese's sixth goal in all competitions this season.

With the defeat at Bernabeu, Sevilla once again failed to close in on the Top 4. This team will likely have to continue aiming for the Europa League title to qualify for the Champions League like last season.
