(Baonghean.vn) -On the occasion of the 68th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2012) and the 23rd anniversary of the National Defense Day, this morning, December 20, Colonel Thai Huu Hong - Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff of the Provincial Military Command visited, presented gifts from the Provincial Party Committee, People's Committee, Provincial Military Command and congratulated officers and soldiers of Vinh Airport Base Battalion (Air Force Division 371), Regiment 764, BTR Company 152, Military School (Provincial Military Command). Accompanying Colonel Thai Huu Hong were leaders of the Department of Education and Training, the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission, and Nghe An Provincial Youth Union.
Presenting congratulatory gifts at Vinh Airport Base Battalion (Air Division 371), Colonel Thai Huu Hong acknowledged the unit's contribution to protecting the peace of Vinh city's airspace and neighboring areas. He also hoped that in the coming time, the unit would continue to uphold its tradition, promote its achievements, and work with the locality to stabilize national defense and security and develop socio-economic development. On behalf of the unit, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Duc Hung - Battalion Commander thanked the affection and attention of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Committee and Provincial Military Command for the Battalion in recent years, and would strive to better fulfill all tasks to be worthy of such attention.

At Regiment 764, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Binh, Regiment Commander, reported to the Chief of Staff the unit's achievements in the past year. In addition to its main task as a permanent mobile unit of the Command, the Regiment has performed well in other tasks of forest fire prevention and rescue. In April 2012, it participated in fighting forest fires in Nghi Kieu (Nghi Loc). In addition, the Regiment mobilized nearly 200 officers and soldiers to help people in Thong Thu (Que Phong) move their houses out of the Hua Na hydroelectric reservoir area, helped Nam Giai commune build a medical station, and mobilized 150 officers and soldiers to help Hung Thong and Hung Nhan communes harvest rice to escape the flood. In 2012, the Regiment was awarded the title of Determined to Win Unit.
