(Baonghean.vn) - Already having 2 children, Moong Thi Hien (Tuong Duong) still "loves to play", wandering with her young lover, dreaming of "getting rich" from drugs. In return, the ending was extremely cruel.

On the morning of June 15, the People's Court of Nghe An province opened the first-instance trial of two defendants Thai Van Trieu (born: 1995; residing in Yen Thanh district) and Moong Thi Hien (born: 1987; residing in Nhon Mai commune, Tuong Duong district) for the crime of "illegal drug trafficking".

The defendants at trial.

Hien already had a husband and children but still had an affair with Trieu even though he was 12 years younger than her. Both dreamed of getting rich from buying and selling drugs in the Vietnam - Laos border area to bring back to Vinh for consumption.

Around the beginning of December 2021, Thai Van Trieu invited a man named Xuan (a social friend he had known before) to his private house in Hamlet 5, Vien Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh District to play.

After a while of talking, the man named Xuan asked Trieu if he could buy the opium. Trieu replied, “I can,” and then offered 4 million VND per package. After the deal was done, Xuan said, “I’ll take as much as you can get.”

On December 12, 2021, Thai Van Trieu took Moong Thi Hien to Hien's house to play, then the two went to Tri Le commune, Que Phong district to look for drugs. Upon arrival, Trieu told his girlfriend to wait for him at the grocery store while he went to Pa Khom village (Tri Le commune, Que Phong district) to meet a man of unknown origin and asked to buy 6 packages of drugs for 1.3 million VND/package.

After buying the drugs, the two took a bus to Vinh city to sell drugs to Xuan. At around 7 p.m. the same day, while entering Tuyet Nhi motel on Ly Nhat Quang street (block 8, Ben Thuy ward, Vinh city), they were inspected by the Vinh city police task force.

Here, the authorities discovered 6 packages of drugs containing 1,200 pink pills wrapped around Thai Van Trieu's waist. Through examination, the total weight of drugs seized was 112.045 grams.

The representative of the People's Procuracy read the indictment at the trial.

At the trial, the two defendants confessed that they had “taken a risk” in trading the above shipment because they wanted to earn money to buy a house. The representative of the People’s Procuracy said that the two defendants were prosecuted for the above crime. For defendant Thai Van Trieu, the People’s Procuracy proposed a sentence of 20 years in prison and 18-19 years in prison for defendant Moong Thi Hien.

Defendant Thai Van Trieu has additional aggravating circumstances of dangerous recidivism due to his previous convictions for “intentionally causing injury”; “theft” and “receiving stolen property”.

Therefore, the People's Court decided to sentence defendant Thai Van Trieu to 20 years in prison and defendant Moong Thi Hien to 18 years in prison for the crime of "illegal drug trafficking".
