Ministry of Public Security directs to expand investigation into smuggled "huge" weapons
Deputy Minister of Public Security To Lam directed the Ministry's units to coordinate with customs agencies to expand the investigation into the case of transporting a huge shipment of military weapons into Vietnam.

Lieutenant General To Lam, Deputy Minister of Public Security, recently worked with the Customs Branch of Tan Son Nhat International Airport (HCMC).
Mr. Lam commended the Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch for its outstanding achievements in detecting and seizing a shipment of military weapons illegally transported into Vietnam.
The Deputy Minister of Public Security directed units of the Ministry of Public Security to coordinate with customs agencies to expand the investigation into the transportation of the above military weapons shipment.
According to the direction, the police force will act as the focal point to receive and promptly propose rewards for collectives and individuals with achievements.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent a letter of commendation to the functional units for promptly detecting and preventing the illegal transportation of military weapons from abroad into Vietnam.
As reported, on July 31, the Customs Branch at Tan Son Nhat International Airport discovered an imported shipment from the Czech Republic containing 94 pistols and 472 unused ammunition boxes that were cleverly hidden.
The authorities are still investigating the above shipment. The symbol “SG” on the bill of lading is not a basis for claiming that the above shipment was mistakenly sent to Vietnam by Singapore police.
