The Ministry of Public Security continues to gather information about the polymer money printing case related to foreign accusations of bribery to some officials in Vietnam - Major General Trieu Van Dat, Deputy Director of the General Department of Crime Prevention Police, said at a meeting to report on the situation of crime prevention and control in the first six months of 2011.

According to Major General Trieu Van Dat, based on information in the Australian press, Vietnamese authorities, through the legal assistance channel, requested foreign judicial agencies to provide documents, but there is no basis to confirm whether or not any officials in Vietnam received bribes. Currently, the Government has assigned the Ministry of Public Security to continue to handle the case and cooperate with foreign agencies to collect information. If there is sufficient legal basis, it will be handled similarly to the PCI case.

According to Major General Dat, initially, the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security assigned the Department of Police Investigation of Corruption Crimes to grasp the situation and conduct verification. After that, this case was handed over to the Department of Financial and Monetary Security to handle.
