Border Guards receive Ho Chi Minh Medal

On the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the Border Guard's Traditional Day (March 3), the 25th anniversary of "National Border Guard Day," on behalf of the Party and State leaders, on the morning of March 2, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung came to congratulate and respectfully present the Ho Chi Minh Medal to the collective of generals, officers, cadres and soldiers of the Border Guard Command.

Attending the ceremony were Minister of National Defense Phung Quang Thanh; former General Secretaries Le Kha Phieu and Nong Duc Manh; former Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Van An; former Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Pham The Duyet and leaders of central ministries and branches. Former President Tran Duc Luong and Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan sent congratulatory flower baskets.

This is the third time the Border Guard force has been honored to receive the Ho Chi Minh Medal from the Party and State.

Over the past years, under the leadership of the Party, the State, directly the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, officers and soldiers of the Border Guard have promoted the heroic tradition of the force, stepped up the Emulation Movement for Victory, and achieved outstanding results in the task of building, managing and protecting the sovereignty and security of the borders and seas and islands of the Fatherland.

The Border Guard also actively fights against all types of crimes; prevents storms, floods, natural disasters, conducts rescue operations; participates in consolidating political bases, developing the socio-economy, eliminating hunger and reducing poverty; and actively implements "National Border Guard Day" nationwide.

In border and island areas, many models of mass organizations have been built to protect the sovereignty and security of the borders and seas of the Fatherland, such as "The masses participate in self-management of border lines and landmarks, maintaining security and order of borders and sea areas," "Self-management groups for boats, safe harbors, security and order in villages and hamlets"... contributing to consolidating a strong all-people Border Defense posture.

The Border Guard has promoted its combined strength, actively researched and comprehensively innovated border work; proactively coordinated with sectors, levels and forces in performing the task of managing and protecting national border security and sovereignty; built a national border defense, and effectively carried out the work of ensuring security, national defense and foreign affairs of the Party and State.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung emphasized that, in order to fulfill the political tasks in the new period together with the entire Party, people and army, the officers and soldiers of the Border Guard need to promote the heroic tradition, well implement the Resolution of the 11th National Party Congress, the Resolution of the recent 8th Central Conference on "Strategy for protecting the Fatherland in the new situation", continue to study, train and build a strong and comprehensive Border Guard. Thoroughly grasp the foreign policy of the Party and State, create favorable conditions for economic cooperation and development between Vietnam and neighboring countries, and build a peaceful and friendly border.

Be proactive and actively innovate in work, combine economic development with national defense. Build a Border Guard force that is strong in politics, ideology and organization, disciplined, elite, and gradually modernized, while continuing to do a good job of mobilizing the masses and building a people's border defense posture to effectively carry out assigned tasks.

National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung believes that in the new development period of the country, the Border Guard will continue to promote its heroic tradition, strive, train, and excellently fulfill its task of firmly protecting the sovereignty and border security of the beloved Fatherland, worthy of the trust of the Party, State and people.
