Vietnamese soldiers learn foreign languages for international missions
He has just organized the first English training course through the British Council Vietnam.
The British Embassy said that 24 officers of the Vietnam People's Army have been studying English for five months at the British Council Vietnam in Hanoi. These officers have to study four hours a day, five days a week.
"The English course for officers ready to participate in UN peacekeeping missions marks the first result from the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Defense Cooperation between Vietnam and the United States.

"With the aim of equipping defence officers with the English language skills needed for future UN peacekeeping missions, the English language course has been designed with general English and defence-specific English content," said a statement from the British Embassy.
The announcement also quoted the British Ambassador to Vietnam.
"More importantly, Vietnam's willingness to ready its forces to serve in peacekeeping missions demonstrates Vietnam's clear commitment to playing a larger role globally."
The ambassador also said Britain would continue to fund another English course in 2012.
