Ministry of Education and Training proposes to review and report on Vietnamese textbooks 1
The Ministry of Education and Training has just requested the Appraisal Council to review and report on public opinion about first grade textbooks.
In response to press reports that Vietnamese textbooks for grade 1 contain some inappropriate content, MinisterMinistry of Education and TrainingPhung Xuan Nha has directed the inspection, clarification and appropriate handling of this issue.
Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Huu Do has just signed an official dispatch on behalf of the Ministry's leaders to the National Council for the Appraisal of Vietnamese Textbooks for Grade 1 regarding the review and reporting on the content of Vietnamese Textbooks for Grade 1.
The document stated that, in implementing the 2018 General Education Program, the National Textbook Appraisal Council organized the appraisal of grade 1 textbooks. Based on the appraisal results, the Minister of Education and Training approved 5 sets of grade 1 textbooks for schools to choose and implement teaching and learning activities according to regulations.

In recent times, the Ministry of Education and Training has conducted inspections, surveys, and grasped the implementation of new programs and textbooks in a number of localities. The inspection results show that,Grade 1 textbookhas been selected by schools, teaching and learning have initially met requirements; first graders are familiar with new teaching methods, interested and confident in learning.
However, in recent days, the mass media has reported that the Vietnamese textbook for grade 1 has some content that is not suitable for grade 1 students. Therefore, the Ministry of Education and Training requests the Council to review and check the content mentioned in the press. The report of the Appraisal Council will be sent to the Ministry of Education and Training before October 17.
