Accordingly, the Ministry has decided on the basic admission scores for university and college entrance exams as proposed by the Council for determining conditions to ensure input quality on August 8. Particularly for schools and sectors that have announced the main exam subjects, the Ministry stated: "The determination of candidates' admission scores on the basis of ensuring input quality and the rights of candidates can be calculated as follows:
a) Determine the candidate's admission score taking into account the coefficient of the main exam (equal to the total score of three exams, in which the main exam is multiplied by a coefficient of 2) and round according to the current regulations of the current Regulations.
b) Convert the candidate's admission score to the 30-point system by multiplying the candidate's admission score calculated above (at a) by 3, dividing by 4 and rounding to 2 decimal places.
c) The candidate's admission score is the total admission score converted to the 30-point system (at b) and priority points (region, subject if any) as prescribed in the current Admission Regulations.
After determining the candidates' admission scores according to the above instructions, schools organize admission exams as for majors that do not specify main exam subjects.
The noteworthy point of this Decision is that schools "can" implement the above calculation method, but it is not mandatory. According to an admissions expert, this decision of the Ministry is to allow schools to choose their own method of calculating admission scores so as to ensure both input quality and not affect the rights of candidates.
