Ministry of Education and Training reviews incorrect information on priority points
Acting Director of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Kim Phung said so after dozens of candidates went from passing to failing because of priority points.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Phung said that after receiving information about the situation of candidates passing but failing due to incorrect priority points, the Ministry of Education and Training directed the Department of Testing and Education Quality Assessment to review, even though the schools have not yet reported specifically.
Regarding the 33 candidates who passed but failed at Hue University, Ms. Phung said that she has not yet received a resolution report from the school. However, the Ministry of Education and Training's viewpoint is to resolve the case on the basis of ensuring reasonable rights for candidates, not violating the Admissions Regulations. The specific resolution depends on the cause of the error in each case.
If the locality gives incorrect instructions, leading to incorrect information on the candidate's exam registration, the Ministry of Education and Training will consider and propose an appropriate solution. Recently, the Ministry of Education and Training has allowed some students to re-select schools/majors that match their actual scores. That is, the candidate will not be unfairly failed but will not have their admission scores lowered.
Adding up the wrong priority points, many candidates passed the university entrance exam but failed.
Instead of only getting 1.5 points, 20 candidates in Phu Yen were given 3.5 points by their high school, causing many candidates to choose the wrong major and from being admitted to failing the university entrance exam.

Ms. Phung also said that if the mistakes are made by the candidates, they must take responsibility, because in reality, candidates have at least 3 times to review and adjust information, as well as have channels for consultation and support and are given accounts to check on the system at any time...
However, the Ministry of Education and Training also encourages schools to call them to enroll if they recalculate the actual scores of candidates who are qualified to be admitted to a certain major that they also wish to enroll.
Many candidates failed because of priority points.
The most recent case was that 34 candidates who applied to Hue University went from passing to failing due to filling in incorrect information about priority areas. After receiving the application, the school did not check it immediately but still used it to issue admission notices.
In the above cases of confusion about priority subjects, Hue University believes that the responsibility lies with the candidates. Speaking to Zing.vn via phone, Dr. Hoang Huu Hoa, Head of Training Department, Hue University, said that on September 15, the school will hold a meeting to resolve these errors.
In Phu Yen province, an error from Nguyen Hue High School (Tuy Hoa City) also caused 20 candidates to have extra priority points added.
Of these, 19 students are from An Phu commune, Tuy Hoa city and one student is from Song Hinh district. Instead of being included in area 1 - having permanent residence in the coastal area (with 1.5 points added), Nguyen Hue High School added group 1 - ethnic minority students (with 2 points added). With 3.5 points added, many students passed the university entrance exam and received admission notices.
Discovering the error, some schools lowered their scores by 2 points, causing many students to fail NV1. After that, the Ministry of Education and Training allowed the above candidates at Nguyen Hue High School to retake the first choice with their actual scores.
On September 7, Ho Chi Minh City Open University also recorded that a number of candidates who came to complete admission procedures were notified that they were not admitted, because the admission software incorrectly added regional priority points.
Among them, the elderly candidate scored 18.5 points, with an additional 1.5 regional priority points, just enough to be admitted to the school's Management Information Systems major.
When the candidate enrolled, the school said that due to a system error, he belonged to Zone 2 and not Zone 1, so he did not have enough points to pass the entrance exam. In fact, this candidate has a registered residence in Tan Chau district (Zone 1) and studies at Thu Khoa Nghia High School (Chau Doc City, An Giang) in Zone 2.
After that, the school confirmed that Chau Doc city has a commune in Zone 1, so T still enjoys Zone 1 priority. The school called to notify the results so that the candidate could come to the school to complete the admission procedures.
Passed and failed because of conduct
Also at Hue University, 15 candidates who had enough points to pass the entrance exam to Hue University of Education failed because they did not meet the required conduct standards.
According to the school's explanation, this mistake was the candidate's fault for not carefully considering the admission regulations for the pedagogical major when applying.
In the university admission regulations for 7 key pedagogical schools in the country (Hue University of Education, Hanoi University of Education, Hanoi University of Education 2, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, Vinh University of Education, Da Nang University of Education), candidates applying to one of the 7 schools must have good conduct for 3 years of high school or better.
However, it must also be admitted that part of the fault lies with the admissions officers of Hue University of Education, who did not carefully review the candidates' records before sending the admission notice.
