Ministry of Education and Training announces list of public universities and colleges

According to the announcement of the Ministry of Education and Training, there are a total of 130 universities and 181 public colleges in provinces and regions nationwide.

Of the total 130 public universities, the Northern mountainous region has 6 schools; the Red River Delta region has 66 schools; the North Central region has 9 schools; the South Central Coast region has 10 schools; the Central Highlands region has 2 schools; the Southeast region has 28 schools; and the Mekong River Delta region has 9 schools.

Of the total 181 public colleges, the Northern mountainous region has 39 schools; the Red River Delta region has 49 schools; the North Central region has 13 schools; the South Central Coast region has 20 schools; the Central Highlands region has 9 schools; the Southeast region has 25 schools; and the Mekong Delta region has 26 schools.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, this statistic aims to create conditions for localities to develop and implement policies for students of public universities, colleges and vocational training institutions to fully implement regulations on tuition exemption and reduction, support for learning costs and mechanisms for collecting and using tuition fees for educational institutions in the national education system from the 2010-2011 school year to the 2014-2015 school year as prescribed in Decree No.49/2010/ND-CPand Circular No.29/2010/TTLT/BGDĐT-BTC-BLĐTBXH.

For vocational secondary schools in provinces and cities established by the People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities, the Ministry of Education and Training requests the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of provinces and centrally run cities to update information from the Department of Education and Training of provinces and centrally run cities.
