Ministry of Education and Training signs cooperation agreement to end violence against children
Students will be introduced to positive education methods, helping to recognize the risk of violence and improve their self-defense skills.
On May 17, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Education and Training and World Vision signed a cooperation agreement to implement the initiative "Ending physical violence against children in families and schools".
The two sides implemented the program in 14 provinces and cities including Hoa Binh, Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, Dien Bien, Hung Yen, Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Quang Tri, Quang Nam, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Dac Nong, Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Thuan to build a safe and healthy educational environment and eliminate physical violence against children.

The Ministry of Education and Training and World Vision will jointly introduce knowledge and practical skills to schools to help teachers and students prevent violence. Specifically, the two sides will compile documents on positive education and introduce this method to the teaching staff. This is considered an effective way to teach children, helping to recognize and promote positive attitudes and behaviors without scolding or beating.

For students, behavioral change education is focused on helping them recognize the risk of violence, thereby improving their ability to handle situations and self-defense. Ms. Tran Thu Huyen - Chief Representative of World Vision in Vietnam, said that the initiative "Ending physical violence against children in families and schools" has been implemented in 97 countries and territories.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Nghia affirmed that this agreement is important to minimize the harmful effects of violence and child abuse in general and school violence in particular. "Child violence is a global problem. To prevent it, families, schools and the whole community must join hands," Ms. Nghia emphasized, hoping that the agreement will help Vietnamese children live in a safe and healthy environment, thereby developing physically and mentally.
