Leaders of Nghe An province attend the opening ceremony of the 2025-2026 school year.
On the morning of September 5th, the Ministry of Education and Training held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the National Ministry of Education (now the Ministry of Education and Training), combined with the opening ceremony of the 2025-2026 school year. The ceremony was broadcast live on VTV1 and connected online to 52,000 educational and training institutions nationwide.

At the central venue, Comrade To Lam - General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam - attended, delivered a speech, and beat the drum to inaugurate the new school year. Also present were: Comrade Luong Cuong - President of the Republic; Comrade Pham Minh Chinh - Prime Minister; Comrade Tran Thanh Man - Chairman of the National Assembly; along with leaders and former leaders of the Party and State; leaders and former leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training from various periods; representatives of leaders from ministries, departments, agencies, and central organizations...

Attending the meeting from the Nghe An provincial side at the Nghe An Ethnic Boarding High School were: Nguyen Duc Trung - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Hoang Nghia Hieu - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Le Hong Vinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; along with leaders of the Provincial People's Council,The Fatherland Front Committee, the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies anddepartments and agencies.
The Ministry of Education and Training receives the First-Class Labor Medal.
This was a special opening ceremony as it was held simultaneously nationwide, broadcast live on VTV1, and connected online to 52,000 educational institutions across the country, with the participation of approximately 1.7 million teachers and nearly 30 million students nationwide.
For the first time, all delegates, teachers, and students from educational institutions nationwide saluted the flag and sang the national anthem simultaneously during the opening ceremony of the new school year. This special event marks a historic milestone for the education sector and creates a positive start for the 2025-2026 school year.

Delivering a commemorative speech and opening the new school year, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son emphasized that the start of the new school year also marks the 80th anniversary of the Education sector's tradition and the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the National Ministry of Education.
Never before has education and training received such attention and high expectations from the Party and the State as it does now; most importantly, the Politburo has just issued Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in the development of education and training.
This is a crucial political foundation for further promoting the fundamental and comprehensive reform of education and training, which was established in Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW (2013) and continues to be emphasized in Conclusion No. 91-KL/TW (2024).

Minister Nguyen Kim Son emphasized: The 2025-2026 school year is a very important one, with many major tasks to be accomplished and many opportunities for innovation. The keyword for this school year is "implementation." This means focusing on effectively implementing the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws on education, as well as the 10 key tasks and solutions for the 2025-2026 school year of the education sector.
The 2025-2026 school year will be the first year the entire country operates under a two-tiered government model, in which preschools, primary schools, and secondary schools are directly managed at the commune level.
The education sector will continue to implement the 2018 General Education Program; promote the organization of two-session-per-day teaching; accelerate digital transformation, develop digital skills, and apply artificial intelligence (AI); strengthen STEM education; and mobilize artisans, artists, and athletes to participate in education in schools.

Along with the rest of the country, more than 945,000 students in 1,517 schools across Nghe An province attended the opening ceremony of the new school year.
With the theme "Modernization, breakthrough development, innovation, sustainable connectivity, and readiness to enter a new era of development," in the 2025-2026 academic year, the Nghe An Education sector is determined to successfully implement the first integrated and synchronized implementation of major policies of the Party and State aimed at fundamentally and comprehensively reforming and developing education and training in the province.

Continue to focus on implementing fundamental and comprehensive reforms in education and training, linked to the implementation of the Education Development Strategy; the Resolution on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation; and meeting the demands of international integration in the new situation.
Pioneering in prioritizing educational policies within the context of a two-tiered local government system: free tuition; universal education for preschool children aged 3 to 5; gradually making English the second language in schools; teaching Lao to students in border areas; experiential education to develop qualities, abilities, and health for learners in two-session-per-day teaching; and implementing the Law on Teachers.

On this occasion, to recognize the outstanding achievements of the Ministry of Education and Training in state management of education and training, the President of Vietnam has decided to award the First Class Labor Order to the Ministry of Education and Training.

Shifting from reform and adjustment to a constructive, leading, and developmental mindset.
Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, extended warm greetings and best wishes to teachers, education administrators, students, and pupils throughout the country. The General Secretary wished the education sector continued breakthroughs, worthy of the tradition of studiousness, respect for morality, and the aspirations of the heroic Vietnamese nation.
Reviewing the 80-year history of revolutionary education in Vietnam, with its proud achievements as well as its limitations, weaknesses, and shortcomings, the General Secretary emphasized: Our country is entering a new stage of development with the goal of becoming a modern industrialized country by 2030 and a developed, high-income country by 2045.

In the context of globalization, the knowledge economy, science, technology, and digital transformation, education and training must maintain their position as a top national priority and become a key driving force for national development.
The General Secretary proposed: The entire Party must strongly innovate its leadership thinking regarding education, not imposing old standards on a modern education system, but rather providing guidance, conducting thorough reviews, and organizing decisive, effective, and consistent implementation, considering education as a top national priority.

The National Assembly needs to continue improving the legal system, creating a smooth, stable, and advanced legal framework for the reform of education and training.
The government is increasing investment, ensuring financial resources, infrastructure, and personnel, while resolutely removing bottlenecks in mechanisms and policies to unlock and mobilize all social resources for education.

The Fatherland Front, mass organizations, and social organizations need to leverage the strength of national unity, encourage and spread the movement of the entire population caring for the cause of nurturing future generations.
The education sector needs to be at the forefront of innovation in thinking and management methods, building a team of teachers who are both knowledgeable and ethical, and who have a desire to contribute. Teachers must be shining examples and sources of inspiration for their students.

Students must cultivate great ambitions and aspirations, study and train themselves to become global citizens, gradually integrating into international standards while always preserving their Vietnamese identity and spirit.
Emphasizing several major directions for successfully implementing the reform of education and training in the new period, General Secretary To Lam stated that there must be a strong renewal of thinking and action, shifting from reform and adjustment to a constructive mindset, leading and developing the nation through education, using quality, equity, integration, and efficiency as benchmarks, and tightening discipline in implementation.

We must ensure equal access to education, raise the general level of knowledge, and leave no child behind. We must reform general education in a comprehensive manner. We must create breakthroughs in higher education and vocational training.
Promote international integration in education. Care for the teaching staff and education management personnel. Promote digital transformation and artificial intelligence in education, turning technology into a driving force for fundamental and comprehensive transformation and innovation. Prioritize investment in education. Build a learning society and lifelong learning.

Addressing students, teachers, and education administrators nationwide, the General Secretary affirmed: Our Party has always considered education and training as a top national priority, a key driving force determining the future of the nation. More than ever, we must consider investing in education as investing in the future, in the sustainable development and prosperity of the country.
General Secretary To Lam called on the entire Party, the entire people, the entire army, all levels, sectors, localities, every family and every citizen to join hands in caring for the cause of nurturing future generations, the future of our children, for the prosperity of the Fatherland and the happiness of the people.
