Ministry of Education and Training received the First Class Labor Medal

This is a special opening ceremony as it is held simultaneously nationwide, broadcast live on VTV1 and connected online to 52,000 educational and training institutions nationwide with the participation of about 1.7 million teachers and nearly 30 million students nationwide.

For the first time, all delegates, teachers, and students of educational institutions nationwide saluted the flag and sang the National Anthem at the same time during the opening ceremony of the new school year. This special event marked a historic milestone for the industry, and at the same time created momentum for the 2025-2026 school year.

Delivering a speech commemorating and opening the new school year, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son emphasized that the beginning of the new school year is also an occasion to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the education sector and the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of National Education.

Never before have education and training received as much attention and expectation from the Party and the State as they do today; most importantly, the Politburo has just issued Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in education and training development.

This is an important political foundation to further promote the fundamental and comprehensive innovation of education and training, which has been established in Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW (2013) and continued to be emphasized in Conclusion No. 91-KL/TW (2024).

Minister Nguyen Kim Son emphasized: The 2025-2026 school year is a very important school year, with many important tasks to be done and many opportunities for innovation. The keyword of this school year is "implementation". That is, focusing on effectively implementing the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws on education as well as the 10 key tasks and solutions for the 2025-2026 school year of the Education sector.

The 2025-2026 school year is the first year the country operates a two-level government model, in which kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools are under the direct management of the commune level.

The education sector will continue to implement the 2018 General Education Program; promote the organization of two-session teaching/day; promote digital transformation, develop digital capacity, apply artificial intelligence (AI); enhance STEM teaching; and mobilize artisans, artists, and athletes to participate in education in schools.

Along with the whole country, more than 945,000 students at 1,517 schools in Nghe An province attended the opening ceremony of the new school year.

With the theme "Modernization, breakthrough development, innovation, sustainable connection, ready to enter a new era of development", in the 2025-2026 school year, Nghe An Education sector is determined to successfully implement the first school year integrating and synchronously implementing major policies of the Party and State to make fundamental and comprehensive breakthroughs, sustainable development of education and training in the province.

Continue to focus on implementing fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training in conjunction with implementing the Education Development Strategy; Resolution on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation; responding to international integration in the new situation.

Pioneering in prioritizing the implementation of education policies in the context of a two-level local government: free tuition; universalizing education for preschool children from 3 to 5 years old; gradually making English the second language in schools; teaching Lao to students in border areas; experiential education to develop qualities, abilities and health for learners in teaching 2 sessions/day; implementing the Law on Teachers.

On this occasion, to recognize the outstanding achievements of the Ministry of Education and Training in state management of education and training, the President decided to award the First Class Labor Medal to the Ministry of Education and Training.

Shift from reform and editing to creative, leading and developing thinking

Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, sent warm greetings and best wishes to teachers, education managers, students across the country. The General Secretary wished the education sector to continue to make breakthroughs, worthy of the tradition of studiousness, respect for morality and the aspiration to rise up of the heroic Vietnamese people.

Reviewing the 80-year history of Vietnam's revolutionary education with proud results as well as limitations, weaknesses and shortcomings, the General Secretary emphasized: Our country is entering a new stage of development with the goal of becoming a modern industrial country by 2030 and a developed, high-income country by 2045.

In the context of globalization, knowledge economy, science, technology and digital transformation developing strongly, education and training must maintain its position as a top national policy and become a key driving force for national development.

The General Secretary suggested: The entire Party must strongly innovate its leadership thinking on education, not impose old standards on a modern education system, but need to direct, review substantially, organize implementation resolutely, effectively, consistently, considering education as the top national policy.

The National Assembly needs to continue perfecting the legal system, creating a smooth, stable and progressive legal corridor for the cause of education and training innovation.

The Government increases investment, ensures financial resources, facilities, and staff, and resolutely removes bottlenecks in mechanisms and policies to unblock and maximize all social resources for education.

The Fatherland Front, unions and social organizations need to promote the strength of great solidarity, encourage and spread the movement of the entire people to care for the cause of educating people.

The education sector needs to be a pioneer in innovation in thinking and management methods, and in building a team of teachers who are knowledgeable, ethical, and have a desire to contribute. Teachers must be shining examples and a source of inspiration for students.

Students must nurture great ambitions and aspirations, study and practice to become global citizens, gradually integrating into international standards but always preserving Vietnamese identity and soul.

Emphasizing some major orientations to successfully implement the cause of education and training innovation in the new period, General Secretary To Lam said that it is necessary to strongly innovate thinking and action, shifting from reform and correction to the thinking of creating, leading, and developing the nation through education, taking quality, fairness, integration, and efficiency as measures, and tightening enforcement discipline.

We must ensure equal access to education, raise the level of education, and not leave any child behind. We must innovate general education in a comprehensive way. We must create breakthroughs in higher education and vocational education.

Promote international integration in education. Take care of teachers and educational managers. Promote digital transformation and artificial intelligence in education, turning technology into a driving force for fundamental and comprehensive transformation and innovation. Prioritize investment in education. Build a learning society and lifelong learning.

Addressing students, teachers, and educational administrators nationwide, the General Secretary affirmed: Our Party always considers education and training as the top national policy, the key driving force that determines the future of the nation. More than ever, we must consider investment in education as investment in the future, for the sustainable and powerful development of the country.

General Secretary To Lam called on the entire Party, people, army, all levels, sectors, localities, each family and each citizen to join hands to care for the cause of educating people, the future of our children, for the prosperity of the Fatherland, for the happiness of the people.

With a tradition of studiousness, a team of dedicated teachers, the efforts of students nationwide, and the attention of the whole society, the General Secretary believes that our country's education sector will continue to overcome difficulties, reap many great achievements, and contribute to realizing the aspiration of building a strong and prosperous Vietnam.
