On June 9, at Quy Nhon University (Binh Dinh), the Ministry of Education and Training held a rally to launch the Vietnam Sea and Islands Week and World Oceans Day (June 8). Deputy Minister of Education and Training, Associate Professor - Dr. Tran Quang Quy launched the ceremony with leaders of the education sector, universities of Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Quang Ngai provinces and 1,000 students of Quy Nhon University.

At the ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Quang Quy affirmed that over 23 million students and one million cadres and lecturers nationwide will be a powerful and pioneering force in propaganda and mobilization for the community to raise awareness of protecting resources and the environment in order to preserve and promote the value of marine and island resources, national consciousness, and pride in the sovereignty of the sacred sea of ​​the fatherland, contributing to maintaining stability and developing the country.

Deputy Minister Tran Quang Quy said that in the coming time, the education and training sector will continue to carry out specific tasks in education about the sea and islands, including: Strengthening information, propaganda, dissemination, mobilization and education activities for cadres, teachers, students to raise awareness of the position and importance of the sea and islands in the cause of national construction and protection as well as honoring the values ​​of the ocean for human life. Promoting the concretization of the implementation of Plan 4175 of the Ministry of Education and Training; emphasizing the content of education on sovereignty over the sea and islands for students; integrating and integrating the content of education and protection of marine ecosystems at all levels and training levels in the national education system with knowledge about the marine environment for humans; causes of degradation and ways to protect the marine environment. Call on students and parents to actively participate in campaigns launched in coastal areas such as: cleaning the sea and marine ecological areas; encouraging and supporting compatriots and soldiers living on beloved beaches, islands and archipelagos.

Immediately after the rally, the Ministry of Education and Training and Quy Nhon University organized a campaign to clean up the Quy Nhon city coast. Leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training, Quy Nhon University, Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee and 1,000 students collected trash, cleaned up the sanitation and landscape of the Quy Nhon coastal area.
