Ministry of Transport proposes Ministry of Health to prioritize driver health check-ups

Health check-ups for all drivers in the transport business must be completed before April 30.

On April 4, the Ministry of Transport sent a document to the Ministry of Health requesting priority health examinations for all car drivers operating in the transport business.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Transport requested the Ministry of Health to direct the Department of Health of provinces and cities to prioritize coordination with the Department of Transport and transport business units to conduct health examinations for the entire team of transport business drivers, ensuring completion before April 30.

In particular, the Ministry of Transport also requested the Ministry of Health to study and issue a Circular regulating health standards for drivers of automobile transport businesses and regulations on testing blood alcohol concentration of drivers of road motor vehicles.

Recently, many road traffic accidents, especially bus and truck accidents, have caused serious and alarming consequences.

Through analysis of the causes of accidents, it shows that health conditions, especially mental health of drivers in the transport business, are one of the main reasons why drivers lose control of their behavior while driving./.
