Faced with the fact that fuel prices have been continuously decreasing in recent times, the Department of Transport has issued many documents requesting units to develop new, appropriate prices. In particular, on November 24, 2014, the Department of Transport invited passenger transport businesses in the province to organize a ceremony to announce and sign a commitment to reduce transportation fares when fuel prices decrease. 100% of participating units have declared to reduce fares, with common reductions ranging from 6-15%, with some units reducing up to 25%.
As of January 5, 2015, 34/35 units subject to declaration under Circular 152/TTLT-BTC-BGTVT have declared freight rate reduction. 1 unit has not declared freight rate increase since 2011, so it did not declare freight rate reduction in this period.
Also in 2013 and 2014, the Department of Transport established 3 inspection teams, and through inspections, administratively sanctioned 9 transport business units related to the declaration and posting of fares.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Ky, Director of Nghe An Department of Transport, said that up to now, the locality has reduced fares twice. Nghe An is considered a province that has done well in declaring, posting and reducing fares in recent times.
