Ministry of Science and Technology requests temporary suspension of import of discarded machinery from China
Recently, the Ministry of Science and Technology has issued a document on temporarily suspending the import of used machinery, equipment, and technological lines that have been discarded by other countries due to their obsolescence and poor quality...
Temporarily stop importing discarded machinery from China
The document of the Ministry of Science and Technology clearly states that the import of used machinery, equipment, and technological lines that have been announced to be eliminated by competent authorities of China (2,255 enterprises) in 18 fields and industries such as: production of iron, steel, alloys, and coal; smelting of copper, lead, zinc, and aluminum electrolysis; production of calcium carbide, chemical fiber, cement, and flat glass; production of paper, alcohol, monosodium glutamate, and citric acid; tanning, dyeing, and printing.
The above regulations do not apply to used machinery, equipment, and technological lines imported for non-domestic production purposes (temporary import, re-export; transit, transshipment, etc.).
In addition, the Ministry also proposed that from September 15, 2012, the Ministry of Finance and the General Department of Customs allow customs clearance of shipments of used machinery, equipment, and technological lines originating from China if the Ministry of Science and Technology confirms that they are not subject to the temporary import suspension mentioned above.
To confirm that the shipment of machinery, equipment, and technological lines originating from China is not subject to the above cases of temporary import suspension, importers must submit documents to the Ministry.
