Ministry of Science and Technology awarded Certificate of Merit to Inspector of Department of Science and Technology and PC46 (CANA)

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of November 25, the Ministry of Science and Technology organized a ceremony to award Certificates of Merit from the Minister of Science and Technology to two groups: the Inspectorate of the Department of Science and Technology of Nghe An province and the Economic Police Department (PC46) - Nghe An Provincial Police.Attending the event were Mr. Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Department of Science and Technology and Provincial Police.

As previously reported, from October 3, 2014 to November 15, 2014, the Department of Science and Technology Inspectorate inspected 49 establishments and discovered 12 establishments replacing program ICs to adjust measuring device errors beyond the allowable error level to benefit the seller.

Next, the Economic and Position Crime Investigation Police Department (PC46) of Nghe An Police coordinated with the Department of Science and Technology of Nghe An to discover a series of gas stations that installed chips to commit fuel fraud. Through investigation, PC46 of Nghe An Police discovered 11 gas stations in Nghe An that installed fake electronic chips in gas pumps to defraud 4-11% of the amount of fuel sold. The 114C task force expanded the investigation and arrested the leaders of the group that produced and sold fake ICs.

On November 5, PC46 of Nghe An Police urgently arrested Nguyen Son Hai (41 years old, residing in Hamlet 7, Dien Ky Commune, Dien Chau District), and seized 23 chips of various types. Hai confessed that he bought these devices from Le Van Toan (residing in Quynh My Commune, Quynh Luu District) and that Hai had directly installed them in 6 stores in Dien Chau and Yen Thanh Districts. On November 12, Toan turned himself in to the police.

On November 15, PC46 of Nghe An Police continued to arrest Bui The Ai (45 years old, residing in Quang Trung Ward, Vinh City) and seized 78 fake chips of various types. Ai confessed to buying these fake chips from Tran Le Duc (35 years old, residing in Tay Ho District, Hanoi) to sell and install at many gas stations in Nghe An. Also on November 15, PC46 of Nghe An Police arrested Tran Le Duc. Duc confessed to being the one who produced the fake chips to sell to the above-mentioned contacts.

Speaking at the award ceremony, comrade Huynh Thanh Dien acknowledged and highly appreciated the timely intervention of the specialized inspectors of the Department of Science and Technology, the Economic Police Department - Nghe An Police in the fight against criminals using electronic chips to cheat on gasoline, protecting consumer rights. Project 114C has brought positive results, creating a healthy competitive market, and is highly appreciated by public opinion. The Project Board has a plan to expand the investigation into phase 2, continuing to coordinate with the inspectors of the Department of Science and Technology of the provinces to expand the investigation and handling.

This is a practical measure to promptly encourage and reward groups with outstanding achievements in the fight against and suppression of criminals who use electronic chips to cheat and reduce customers' gasoline.
