Leaving his bicycle on the bridge, an 11th grade student jumped into the river to commit suicide.

After riding his bicycle up Tu Cau bridge, a male student suddenly stopped his bike, climbed over the bridge railing and jumped into Vinh Dien river, committing suicide, to the astonishment of many people passing by on the bridge.

As of 9:00 a.m. on December 9, authorities in Dien Ban town, Quang Nam province, were still trying to find the body of a student who jumped off a bridge to commit suicide for unknown reasons.

Previously, at around 5:55 p.m. on November 8, after attending extra classes at school, Tu Than Tu (born in 2000, residing in Hoa Tay 1 village, Dien Hoa commune, Dien Ban town) rode his bicycle to Tu Cau bridge, in Hoa Phuoc commune, Hoa Vang district, Da Nang city, then suddenly stopped the bike, left his sandals behind, climbed over the railing and quickly jumped into Vinh Dien river to commit suicide.

Many people stood on the bridge watching the incident.

Seeing someone jumping off the bridge to commit suicide, many people around quickly called for help and found people to come and search for the victim. As of 9am this morning, the victim's body had not been found.

Authorities are searching for the victim's body around the foot of Tu Cau bridge.

The victim's family said that Tu is currently in grade 11 at Nguyen Khuyen High School, Dien Ban town.

Yesterday, Tu said he was going to extra classes so his family offered to take him to school by motorbike but Tu refused and wanted to go to school by bicycle. That afternoon, they heard that Tu had jumped off a bridge to commit suicide but the reason was not clear.

According to many people living near the victim’s house, Tu’s family situation is very difficult. His father often has to work for hire to make a living. After each summer vacation, Tu has to apply for a job at a peanut oil pressing facility to earn extra money to pay for his studies.
