After graduating from college in 2010, Tuan was hired as a technical officer at a sugar company. After 3 years, he was promoted to sales officer. The work was progressing smoothly, then "suddenly" in 2014, Tuan quit his job to return to his hometown to be a farmer.

Tuan shared: “My decision to quit my job caused a stir in the neighborhood. My family, brothers, and relatives objected. Because at that time, I had a stable job, but suddenly quitting it and returning to the countryside to raise chickens was unbelievable.” Before making this decision, Tuan had spent some time reading books, newspapers, researching, updating information, and seeing many good economic models, he gradually nurtured the hope of getting rich.

So, in his spare time, he went online to find information about rural economic models. Seeing that the model of raising free-range chickens was suitable for both the natural conditions and the economic conditions of his family, he decided to do it.

With a bank loan of 300 million VND, he used it to buy chicken breeds and build a farm on an area of 2 hectares. Using the method of raising chickens with biological safety, the first batch was successful, he sold over 3,700 chickens, earning 160 million VND. Excited by the results, he continued to expand the farm.

According to Mr. Tuan, raising chickens in a bio-safe way has many similarities with traditional farming, in that chickens are free-range in large spaces. Therefore, in addition to the main foods of rice, corn and synthetic bran, chickens also find other foods such as grass, insects, etc., so nutrition is supplemented.

More importantly, this method of raising chickens has many strict regulations from how to choose breeds, how to care for chickens through each stage of growth and development. Along with that, cleaning the barn must be done regularly once a week. Thanks to proper care, techniques and compliance with cleaning, handling the barn as well as disease prevention, each batch of chickens grows quickly and rarely gets sick. In particular, chickens raised in a biological way have firm and delicious meat, so they can be sold at a good price.

Raising meat chickens and selling breeding chickens brings Mr. Tuan's family a profit of 200-300 million VND/year.

Mr. Tuan shared: In 2015, his family sold 4 batches of broiler chickens with a total of over 12 tons of broiler chickens. Most of his family's chickens were purchased by traders at home at a price of 85-90 thousand VND/kg. In addition, he also raised 200 egg-laying chickens and invested in an incubator to proactively source breeds and sell chicks. From raising and trading broiler chickens and breeding chickens, Mr. Tuan also earned an income of over 1 billion VND, after deducting expenses, he earned a profit of 200-300 million VND/year.

In addition to being a good producer, Nguyen Van Tuan is also an exemplary member of the Youth Union, always taking the lead in all Youth Union activities at the grassroots level. Nguyen Van Khanh - Secretary of the Youth Union of Cam Son commune said: "Tuan always has the will to learn, explore, and boldly seek ways to do business to develop the family's economy and have the conditions to help other youth union members in the branch overcome poverty and become rich on their homeland."
