However, due to serious illness, the children died.
“These days, people in my hometown have been praising the doctors a lot. I don’t know what to say, I just want to thank everyone. People in my hometown only hope that the Minister and the doctors will do better and hope that there will be more good people,” Ms. Thay and her husband wrote in the letter.
The couple also said: "Because the Minister lives too far away, if the Minister lived nearby, my family and I would have brought chicken and wine to thank the Minister."

On July 13, Ms. Thay went to Vi Xuyen District General Hospital, Ha Giang, to give birth with a diagnosis of twins. She had a cesarean section performed by the hospital's doctors, but both the doctors and the family were surprised to welcome the two babies into the world, conjoined at the chest and abdomen. The poor family did not have the money to bring the children back to Hanoi for treatment and to consider the option of separation surgery, so the doctors at Vi Xuyen Hospital had to go to the market to raise money and call on Facebook to help the twins.
The twins were transferred to Viet Duc Hospital (Hanoi) on the afternoon of July 14 in a state of slight cyanosis all over their bodies and lethargy. The conjoined condition of the two babies was so complicated while their health was so weak that the doctor decided it was difficult to separate them immediately. On the night of July 20, the family asked to take the babies home. The two babies died an hour after leaving Viet Duc Hospital.
