The US State Department accused Russia of further complicating relations between the two countries.

Moscow opposes normalization of relations between Russia and the US, Kurt Walker, the US State Department's special representative for Ukraine, told Politico.

Russia-US relations have become strained because of the situation in Ukraine.

“That's what the president always says: 'We want to make a deal with Russia.' But what Russia has done, really, makes this deal more complicated,” Mr. Walker said.

The US State Department Special Representative for Ukraine also commented on the situation with the US providing military assistance to Kiev. According to him, the decision on providing lethal weapons to Kiev has not yet been made.

Relations between Moscow and Washington have deteriorated over the situation in Ukraine. The US has imposed sanctions against Russia, which have been steadily expanded. The Kremlin has imposed retaliatory measures.
