According to RIA Novosti on September 17, President Volodymyr Zelensky declared that Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire.

"We hope that President Trump will negotiate a ceasefire. We are ready for a ceasefire," President Zelensky said in an interview with British television channel Sky News.

On the Washington side, US President Donald Trump believes that Ukraine is facing great difficulties.

Responding to a reporter's question about whether the transfer of 17 Patriot air defense missile systems to Ukraine was still planned, the US leader asked the reporter where he was from. The reporter said "from Ukraine".

"I love Ukraine. I love the people of Ukraine. So I think it's a Ukrainian accent. But this country is in serious trouble," President Trump said at a press conference before leaving for a visit to the UK.

"This should never have happened. This is a war that should never have happened. The country is in very serious trouble, but I will end it," President Trump added, without mentioning the arms sale.

RIA Novosti said that Moscow has repeatedly stressed that putting pressure on Russia regarding the Ukraine issue is useless; Russia has a stance on the ceasefire.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that Moscow is ready to discuss the political aspects of the solution with Ukraine, and work in any format, while Moscow has not yet received a response from Kiev on the proposal to create three working groups to more specifically consider humanitarian, military and political issues, put forward by the Russian side at the Istanbul talks in 2022. In addition, Moscow said that President Zelensky himself had refused President Vladimir Putin's invitation to come to Russia for negotiations.
