Additional $25 million to prevent influenza epidemics
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that the Prime Minister has approved the policy of increasing capital in the form of a loan, adding 25 million USD to the Vietnam Avian Influenza and Human Influenza Prevention and Pandemic Preparedness Project (VAHIP).
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinates with the Ministry of Health to closely monitor avian influenza viruses and epidemics related to people infected with influenza A (H5N1) to take timely measures because the number of people infected with influenza A (H5N1) has recently tended to increase.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the additional US$25 million for the VAHIP project will contribute to the control of HPAI at the national level by controlling the disease at its source in poultry flocks, early detection and response to human and poultry infections; and medical preparedness in case of a pandemic in the coming period.
The VAHIP project is implemented in 11 provinces and cities: Lang Son, Hanoi, Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Thua Thien Hue, Binh Dinh, Tay Ninh, Long An, Tien Giang and Dong Thap with the aim of improving the effectiveness of veterinary and medical services, to reduce health risks to humans and poultry caused by avian influenza.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development together with the Ministry of Health will receive comments from relevant agencies, ensure effective use of loan capital, ensure the project is implemented on schedule, achieves the set goals and brings benefits to the community.
