(Baonghean) -Nghe An Museum has just approved the grassroots scientific research project "Collection of prehistoric bronze weapons". The collection includes 198 bronze artifacts, which are types of weapons of ancient Vietnamese people living in Nghe An under the Dong Son culture, 2000-2500 years ago.
The artifacts include spears, javelins, daggers, swords, arrows, crossbow triggers, etc. collected in many districts in the province such as Nghia Dan, Anh Son, Hung Nguyen, Nam Dan, Dien Chau, etc. They have many cultural, technical, artistic and economic values, and are vivid evidence of the developing life, the differentiation and conflicts in the society of the ancient Vietnamese people at that time.

Over the years, Nghe An Museum has built a number of collections such as: bronze drums, ancient coins, feudal seals, prehistoric bronze production tools and prehistoric bronze weapons. In the coming years, Nghe An Museum will continue to build new collections based on the system of artifacts in the warehouse and newly collected artifacts.
Collecting individual museum artifacts, with common signs of form, content and material into a collection is necessary to fully research their content and meaning, in order to introduce them in an attractive and vivid way to the public when they come to visit and study the museum. Moreover, building collections to serve the display of collections is also a new trend of museums in the world as well as in Vietnam today.
