Minister of Education: Prioritize technology and equipment for high school graduation exams

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of June 15, under the chairmanship of comrade Nguyen Kim Son - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Education and Training, the Ministry of Education and Training held an online conference on the organization of the 2023 high school graduation exam.

Attending the conference at Nghe An province were comrades: Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering CommitteeHigh school graduation exam2023; Thai Van Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Director of the Department of Education and Training, Permanent Deputy Head of the Steering Committee, and members of the Steering Committee at provincial and district levels.

The 2023 high school graduation exam is scheduled to be held over 2 days from June 28-29, 2023.

According to the report of the Ministry of Education and Training, for the 2023 High School Graduation Exam, the whole country has 1,024,063 registration forms. Of which, 37,841 are independent candidates; 47,769 candidates are only considered for graduation; 34,155 candidates are only considered for university admission; 943,340 candidates are considered for graduation and university admission. Nationwide, there are 2,273 exam sites with 44,681 exam rooms.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son once again affirmed the important significance of the Graduation Exam.

In addition to being used for professional assessment, the exam is also used to determine graduation recognition and admission to universities and colleges.

This year's exam is still being conducted in the old program. However, in the context of the whole industry GThe Ministry of Education and Training is implementing comprehensive fundamental innovation in education and training. The Minister believes that the exam will still be carried out in the spirit of innovation. Therefore, during the implementation process, the Minister requires localities to thoroughly organize the exam.

From the perspective of the person with the highest responsibility for the exam, the Minister also expressed his hope and expectation that all heads of the exam steering committees nationwide would promote their responsibilities and complete the tasks that have been decentralized and delegated.

The Minister also highly appreciated the preparation work for the exam in localities. However, although this is an annual exam, during the implementation process, units need to continue to adhere to the spirit of Prime Minister's Directive No. 17 on strengthening direction and coordination in organizing the High School Graduation Exam and university and vocational education admissions in 2023. The implementation process between the provincial and national Steering Committees needs to be unified and smooth to connect and communicate between levels and sectors.

Among the tasks that need to be prepared for the exam, Comrade Nguyen Kim Son also noted that the Steering Committees of localities need to prioritize technology and equipment for the exam. In addition, it is necessary to continue reviewing the invigilators and human resources preparing for the exam so that the work is proficient, complete, and creative. Regarding the tasks of printing, transporting, and submitting exam papers, provinces and cities also need to have contingency plans such as for unusual weather, natural disasters, and fire prevention and fighting.

At the conference, delegates also heard reports from a number of relevant units such as the Inspectorate, the Department of Higher Education, the Department of Information Technology, representatives of the Ministry of Public Security, and localities on some preparations for the 2023 High School Graduation Exam.

Immediately after the meeting of the Ministry of Education and Training, the Provincial Steering Committee for Examinations and representatives of the District Steering Committee for Examinations also held a meeting to deploy the 2023 High School Graduation Exam.

In Nghe An, this exam had the participation of 36,889 candidates with 70 exam sites. The whole province has 1,669 exam rooms, including 71 waiting rooms. The exam mobilized 5,864 officers to work as invigilators and exam service officers, including 3,843 officers working as invigilators and exam site supervisors.

In preparation for this year's exam, Nghe An has issued directives and deployed tasks. In particular, focusing on issues such as security, safety and order at exam locations, printing and copying exam papers, transporting exam papers, paying attention to ensuring adequate electricity supply during the hot season, ensuring epidemic prevention. Due to its own characteristics, Nghe An also pays attention to cases of candidates living far away, candidates in difficult circumstances, students living far from the central area... In addition, paying attention to communication work to create consensus in public opinion.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Dinh Long suggested that the Department of Education and Training should strengthen training for the invigilators to perform their assigned functions and tasks, avoiding subjectivity and easy violations of regulations. Localities also need to regularly report on the implementation at the grassroots level, paying attention to the transportation of exam papers. Exam sites must pay attention to the accommodation and meals for the staff working in the exam invigilation and invigilators coming to the exam sites.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Provincial Electricity Department and local Electricity Departments to put 70 examination sites on the priority list, absolutely not allowing power outages to occur during the examination. In addition, it is necessary to thoroughly check the camera system, ensure absolute safety and prevent cheating and proactively develop backup plans so that the examination takes place safely, seriously and in accordance with regulations.
