Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh visits Laos
At the invitation of Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith, Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Party Central Committee member, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh visited and worked in Luong Phabang province (Laos) from June 14-16.

During the visit, Minister Pham Binh Minh held talks with Foreign Minister Thongloun Sisoulith. The two sides discussed and appreciated the efforts of the two countries' functional forces in implementing the project to increase the density and improve the Vietnam-Laos border marker system, which has been implemented since 2008.
Accordingly, the most important part of the field marker planting project has been basically completed.
The two sides agreed to continue to urge relevant sectors and localities of the two countries to make efforts to complete field work, to soon embark on the second phase of the project, and strive to complete the entire project by 2014 as directed by the two countries' senior leaders.
The two sides discussed specific measures such as upgrading and improving road infrastructure, completing the road border gate system, developing economic zones on both sides of the border to facilitate and promote economic, trade, investment, tourism cooperation, and promote exchanges between the people of Vietnam and Laos; agreed to cooperate closely in border management, strictly implement the National Border Regulations between the two countries, focusing on cooperation in the fight against cross-border crimes, free migration and illegal border crossings; strengthen propaganda and education to raise awareness of border laws for officials and people of the two countries, strictly implement the Border Management Regulations, and strive to build the Vietnam-Laos border into a peaceful, stable, friendly, cooperative border for mutual development.
The two sides discussed measures to promote the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, and agreed to continue to increase the exchange of ideas, share information, and strengthen cooperation and close coordination at international and regional forums to effectively implement the foreign policies of the two Parties and States of Vietnam and Laos./.
