Prime Minister Abe emphasized that Japan wishes to work with Vietnam to promote the strategic partnership to develop even stronger.
On the afternoon of September 13, in Tokyo, Vietnamese Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh paid a courtesy visit to Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Minister Pham Binh Minh is on an official visit to Japan from September 12 to 14 at the invitation of Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida.
Minister Pham Binh Minh conveyed to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe the congratulations of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and other senior Vietnamese leaders on Tokyo winning the right to host the 2020 Summer Olympics. The Minister affirmed that Vietnam always considers Japan one of its leading partners, especially in the field of trade and economy.
For his part, Prime Minister Abe emphasized that Japan considers Vietnam one of its important partners in the region and wishes to work with Vietnam to promote the strategic partnership between the two countries to develop even more strongly in the coming time.

Previously, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh held talks and co-chaired the 5th meeting of the Vietnam-Japan Cooperation Committee with Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida.
The two ministers agreed on many major directions and specific measures to further strengthen relations between the two countries, emphasizing the importance of continuing to maintain visits and contacts between high-ranking leaders of the two countries in many flexible and diverse forms.
In addition, the two countries will promote cooperation and dialogue mechanisms such as the Vietnam-Japan Cooperation Committee, the Vietnam-Japan Joint Initiative on Improving the Investment Environment, the Strategic Partnership Dialogue, and the Defense Strategy Dialogue...
Regarding economic cooperation, the two sides agreed to promote cooperation in infrastructure construction, implementing large-scale projects such as building nuclear power plants, railways, airports, etc. The two sides also exchanged measures to further promote agricultural cooperation.
On this occasion, Foreign Minister Kishida announced the provision of ODA loans worth 500 million USD for 3 projects in phase 1 of fiscal year 2013.
The two ministers also discussed international and regional issues of mutual concern, agreeing to strengthen cooperation at regional and international forums. Both sides stressed the importance of maintaining peace, stability and freedom of navigation at sea, and agreed that all disputes must be resolved peacefully on the basis of international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
In an interview with VOV reporters, Minister Pham Binh Minh affirmed that the two sides had a frank discussion on many specific measures to further promote relations between the two countries.
Minister Pham Binh Minh said: “We have very specific requests, such as creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese mangoes and dragon fruits to access the Japanese market. Or for seafood products, we need to apply European standards for antibiotic residues in seafood products. Only then can Vietnamese products access the Japanese market”./.
