Russian Defense Minister Makes Surprise Visit to Troops in Ukraine
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on March 4 made a surprise visit to Russian soldiers on duty in Ukraine's Donetsk region.
Reuters quoted information from the Russian Defense Ministry as saying that Mr. Shoigu visited the front lines in Ukraine.

"Russian Defense Minister, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, inspected the forward command post of one of the formations of the Eastern Military District in the southern direction of Donetsk," the Russian Defense Ministry posted on Telegram.
In a video released by the Russian Defense Ministry, Mr. Shoigu travels by helicopter to Ukraine.

Mr. Shoigu awarded medals to Russian soldiers and officers. He also discussed the work of medical units and supply operations. The Russian defense minister stressed the need to deploy troops in secure areas.
Mr Shoigu visited a ruined town with the commander of the Eastern Military District, Colonel Rustam Muradov.
