AFP reported on August 4 that South Korean President Park Geun Hye replaced Health Minister Moon Hyong-Pyo, who was blamed for the government's poor response to the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) outbreak in the country that killed 36 people.
South Korea's presidential office said Seoul National University Hospital professor Chung Chin-Youb will take over from Moon Hyong-Pyo, who was asked to resign after apologizing for causing public confusion over the MERS outbreak.
The change comes a week after South Korea announced the end of the MERS outbreak, with only one patient still being treated in hospital./.
