Ministry of Information and Communications surveys the current status of public telecommunications network in Thanh Chuong district
During a working trip to Nghe An province on March 27, a delegation of the Ministry of Information and Communications led by Deputy Minister Le Nam Thang surveyed the current status of the telecommunications network to serve the construction of public telecommunications projects in Thanh Chuong district. Accompanying them were comrade Ho Quang Thanh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Director of the Department of Information and Communications, leaders of telecommunications enterprises in the area; and leaders of the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong district.

Before the meeting with the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong district, the delegation surveyed the current status of the telecommunications network serving the construction of public telecommunications works at Thanh Tung primary school, Thanh Tung People's Committee, Thanh Tung Cultural Post Office, Dang Thuc Hua High School; Public Internet service point in Vo Liet commune; Thanh Khe primary school, Thanh Chuong district general hospital and Thanh Chuong district post office. On this occasion, the delegation presented 2 computers to the People's Committee of Thanh Tung commune and Thanh Khe primary school, Thanh Chuong district.
Thanh Chuong is a mountainous district with 40 communes and towns, 501 villages and hamlets. The whole district has more than 58,000 households, of which 18.06% are poor. According to the report of Thanh Chuong District People's Committee, due to its large area, mountainous and complex terrain, it has significantly affected the construction of telecommunications infrastructure. Currently, there are 15 telecommunications switchboards in the area; 36/40 communes have Internet; 132 BTS stations; 15 microwave stations; 517km of fiber optic cable. Fixed subscriber density is 5 computers/100 people. Mobile subscribers are 18/100 people. Regarding information technology infrastructure, all 40 communes and towns use computers with nearly 200 computers and more than 50 computers connected to the Internet. 7/7 high schools, 16/39 middle schools, and 3/42 primary schools teach IT. 40 communes have radio stations and cultural post offices.

At the meeting, Thanh Chuong People's Committee also made recommendations and proposals to the working delegation on coordination between the construction unit and the District People's Committee in managing BTS stations; Pay attention to investing in broadcasting systems and equipment for disadvantaged facilities and cultural officers of communes and towns.
After listening to the opinions of leaders of units and localities, speaking at the working session, Deputy Minister Le Nam Thang responded to the recommendations and proposals of the District People's Committee. The Deputy Minister noted that although Thanh Chuong district still faces many difficulties in economic development, the poverty rate is still high, the district's telecommunications network infrastructure is quite well developed compared to many localities in the country. However, the development and application of IT in the district is not synchronous; human resources and information exploitation skills are still limited. To achieve the goal of eliminating the digital gap between regions and effectively applying IT, the Deputy Minister suggested that in the coming time, the district needs to: focus on investing in infrastructure to develop the economy associated with IT; Pay attention to training human resources, serving well the application of information technology in state management and professional work; Synchronously develop telecommunications and IT infrastructure; Implement the public telecommunications program integrated and linked with other national target programs such as: New Rural Development, transportation, health, education, ethnicity... Enhance the role of localities in implementing the next phase of the public telecommunications program.
