Ministry of Information and Communications presents 2013 calendars to border and island soldiers

Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son presented 5,000 2013 calendars and pictures to units on duty in the border and islands of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa on the afternoon of December 21.

This will be an annual activity of the Ministry, expressing the sentiments of officials in the Information, Communications and Publishing sectors nationwide.

Major General - Rear Admiral Nguyen Ngoc Tuong - Deputy Political Commissar of the Vietnam Navy, Colonel Le Thai Ngoc - Deputy Chief of Political Affairs of the Border Guard represented the navy and border guards to receive the calendar.

It is known that in the two years 2011 - 2012, implementing the national target program to bring information to the grassroots, mountainous, remote, border and island areas, the Ministry of Information and Communications brought 250 publications of various types to more than 400 Border Guard Stations nationwide.


2012 is a year of special significance for those working in publishing, printing and distributing books in Vietnam. Therefore, from the beginning of the year, in the publishing orientation, the Ministry of Information and Communications has directed publishers to reserve a number of 2013 block calendars as gifts for units on duty in border and island areas.


Minister Nguyen Bac Son said that the number of calendars expected to be awarded this time is estimated at about 5,000 blocks of various types. The calendar awarding will become an annual activity of the publishing industry in the following years.


On the occasion of presenting the block calendar for the new year, the Minister also presented the two military branches with a number of large-size photos recording the parade of soldiers and navy soldiers on Ba Dinh Square, images of Song Tu Tay Island taken from an airplane, and especially the image of General Le Duc Anh speaking at Gac Ma in 1988, after our soldiers heroically sacrificed their lives here.

Speaking at the ceremony, Major General - Rear Admiral Nguyen Ngoc Tuong, on behalf of the officers and soldiers in the service, expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the valuable affection that the leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Publishing Department and publishing units have given to the border guards.

At the same time, Major General - Rear Admiral Nguyen Ngoc Tuong said that the above calendars will soon be sent to Border Guard Stations in the near future, contributing to the people and soldiers having another spiritual and cultural publication to welcome Tet and enjoy spring.
