Cows still roam freely on the streets of Vinh city.
(Baonghean.vn) - Currently, on some roads in Vinh city, there are many herds of cows roaming freely, destroying trees and flower gardens, causing disorder in traffic safety and environmental sanitation.
Recently, a herd of 3-4 cows has appeared on Phan Boi Chau Street, grazing on grass and ornamental plants on the median strip of the road. “I often see cows wandering around the streets, climbing onto the median strip to eat grass and destroy ornamental plants. It is messy and unsafe, but I have never seen a cow herder,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong in Le Loi Ward.

Le Nin Street also often has herds of dozens of unattended cows foraging along the sidewalks on both sides of the street, sometimes even crossing the street and climbing the median to eat grass and trees. Ms. Ha, the owner of a grocery store on this street, said: "I have seen this herd of cows eating here many times, but there is no one to herd them, they let them roam freely around the street."
Herds of 3-5 cows often appear on Truong Thi, Tran Phu, Phan Dinh Phung streets, the area near Vinh market and Cua Nam flower garden, foraging on the streets and flower beds.
In Hong Son ward, there are no households raising cows, but the roads passing through the ward still often have the situation of free-range cows destroying ornamental plants, causing traffic disorder and defecating indiscriminately. Although the Hong Son ward Urban Order Team has repeatedly chased and captured the cows to punish them.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Than - a Mai Linh taxi driver said: "Working as a taxi driver, I often have to travel on the road, and encountering cows grazing in a very messy way. During rush hour, I encounter a herd of cows walking in the middle of the road with no way to avoid them. Many times, traffic jams are just because of cows grazing on the street."

Mr. Nguyen Van Linh - an urban civil servant of Hong Son ward said: "In the past, we have repeatedly arrested cows roaming on the street, in front of the ward office. The cows roaming around eating grass and destroying ornamental plants on the median strip were captured by the security team and locked up in the ward office premises. When people came to look for the cows, we warned them and imposed an administrative fine of 200,000 VND/cow, but for some reason, we still see cows on the street.
The situation of letting cows roam freely along the roads has obstructed traffic, damaged trees, caused environmental pollution, and affected urban aesthetics.
