The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism proposed to consider granting special status to Meritorious Artist for "village chief" Van Hiep.

On August 7, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism submitted a document to the Prime Minister to submit to the President for special consideration to posthumously award the title of Meritorious Artist to the late artist Van Hiep.

The report of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism stated: The late artist Nguyen Van Hiep was born on March 25, 1942, and began his stage career as a student at Viet Duc School; he was a student of the first class of Intermediate Drama Actors at the Hanoi Theatre School in the years 1960-1964. In 1964, he was an actor of the Central Drama Troupe (now the Vietnam Drama Theater). Through nearly 50 years of artistic activities, the late artist Nguyen Van Hiep has made many great contributions to the development of the Vietnamese drama stage in general, and the Vietnam Drama Theater in particular, together with artists such as: People's Artist Trong Khoi, People's Artist The Anh, People's Artist Doan Dung, People's Artist Doan Chau... creating the brand "Red Elder Brother" of the Vietnam Drama Theater.

The late artist Nguyen Van Hiep participated in over 1,000 large and small works of theater, cinema and television. In his artistic activities, the late artist always affirmed his own style, had high professionalism, had a lot of research and creativity with a serious spirit of artistic work, leaving behind many famous and valuable roles on stage and small screen, highly appreciated by colleagues, and admired by audiences such as: The role of "Phi Van" in the play "Fireworks", the role of "Hap" in the play "Doi Mat", the role of "Billy" in the play "Dem Den", the role of "Vinh" in the play "Bai Ca Dien Bien", and especially the role of "Sacca" in the play "Nita", the role of "Oc" in the play "Ngheu, So, Oc, Hen" which contributed significantly to the success of the play.

For many years, the late artist Nguyen Van Hiep participated in many television series, creating a very popular brand of "comedian Van Hiep", typically the role of "Village Chief", "Village Ancestor", "Clan Head"... In addition to his contributions to performing arts, the late artist Nguyen Van Hiep also composed many skits, short plays, entertainment programs on television, radio plays... The late artist Nguyen Van Hiep devoted his entire life to the arts, with a large number of roles on stage, television, and radio plays. The late artist Nguyen Van Hiep's contributions to art have left in the hearts of audiences across the country a feeling of love and a high appreciation for his talent and artistic ethics.


Previously, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also held a meeting of the Council to consider posthumously awarding the title of Meritorious Artist to the head of Van Hiep village. According to Mr. Phung Huy Can (Director of the Department of Emulation and Commendation - Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), 100% of the council members agreed to propose that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism submit to the Prime Minister to submit to the President to consider posthumously awarding the title of Meritorious Artist to the late artist Van Hiep.
