Bed bugs sucking human blood in Nghe An do not cause disease
(Baonghean) -That is the affirmation of Doctor Ha Van Mau, Head of the Entomology Department of the Center for Malaria, Insects and Parasites Prevention (TTPCSRCT-KST) Nghe An.
Recently, information about a type of blood-sucking bed bug discovered by people in Ha Huy Tap, Quan Bau, Ben Thuy wards, Hung Loc, Hung Dong communes... has made many people confused and worried. When people came to the center, they all said that this type of bed bug often lives under piles of dry firewood, on squash trellises... around their houses. When information about a type of blood-sucking bed bug that transmits disease to humans appeared, people paid attention, compared and brought samples to the Nghe An Center for Parasitology and Infectious Diseases for verification. (Up to this point, the center has received 6 cases of people bringing samples). However, the results of testing samples at the Central Institute for Parasitology and Infectious Diseases showed that 4/6 samples were concluded to be a type of bed bug that sucks human blood but does not cause disease, the remaining samples were determined to not suck human blood.
Doctor Mau also advised people not to panic or worry too much. When they discover strange bugs that look like blood-sucking bugs, they should bring them to the center for verification.
