Ministry of Health provides quick information on suspected Covid-19 cases in Da Nang
At noon on July 24, the Ministry of Health informed about a suspected case of Covid-19 in Da Nang. This is the first suspected case of infection in the community recorded after 99 days without any cases.
The patient with the first positive test result is a 57-year-old male living in Lien Chieu district, Da Nang city.
In the past month, the patient has only stayed in Da Nang city, not gone out, rarely left the residential area, only stayed at home to look after his grandchildren, communicated with neighbors, and did not contact strangers.

On July 20, the patient had a fever, cough, and a lot of phlegm, so he went to Da Nang C Hospital at 8:25 a.m. and was suspected of having Covid-19.
Immediately after receiving information about the above suspected case, the Ministry of Health directed the Da Nang City Department of Health to direct the Da Nang City Center for Disease Control (CDC) to coordinate with Da Nang C Hospital to conduct monitoring and collect samples for testing.
The first screening test result on July 23 using RT-PCR method was positive for SARS-CoV-2 virus. The second sample taken in the afternoon of the same day also showed positive result. The sample was sent to Pasteur Institute Nha Trang and the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology for confirmation.
The Department of Health also took samples for testing overnight from people who had close contact with the patient at Hospital C, Da Nang Hospital, the patient's family, the patient's daughter and the patient's mother. The results of 102 samples taken were all negative for SARS-CoV-2.
The Department of Health has also directed units to conduct epidemiological investigation measures, identify close contacts, conduct quarantine, isolate areas and subjects.
The Ministry of Health also said that when there are confirmed test results, the Steering Committee will continue to inform.
