Belongs to the lauraceae family. Currently not widely cultivated, mainly grows wild, most in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien, a few grow in Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Quang Ninh. Also found growing in Southern China, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia.

Planted by seeds or cuttings. After 5-6 years, the tree begins to bear fruit. Many places grow this tree to get the leaves, dried and ground into powder, to make incense powder. The powder of this leaf tree, when moistened, will produce a sticky substance used in the paper industry and to make compressed incense. The fruit is harvested in July-August to press for oil and make soap.

Tree up to 10m high. Many forms, brown bark, odorless, tasteless, no mucus, mature branches are cylindrical, smooth, young branches have edges, many hairs. Leaves grow alternately, often grow in clusters at the top of branches, slightly tough, dark green, shiny upper surface, hairy lower surface, very variable in size, 7-20cm long, 4-10cm wide, oval or elongated, the base of the leaf is round with pointed seeds, pointed or blunt tip; hairy petioles, 1.5-5cm long. Flowers are clustered in 3-6 small clusters on a common 1-3cm long hairy petiole; the petiole of each flower is 2-3mm long. Fruiting season is July-August.

Chemical composition is found in all parts of the tree, the most in the bark containing a sticky mucus, often used to stick paper pulp or incense. The seeds contain 45% of fatty oil that solidifies at room temperature, the main components of the oil are Yaurin and Olein. Young wood contains little essential oil, but the proportion of essential oil decreases as it ages.

* Boils, abscesses, mastitis: equal amounts of Litsea leaves and hibiscus leaves, pounded with a little salt, applied. This medicine is very effective, gives high results, and can be applied all day without burning the skin.

* Treatment of diarrhea and dysentery: 30g of bark or leaves of Litsea, 10g of fresh ginger, 10g of tangerine peel, boil and drink.

* Headache in migraine: 30g of Litsea leaf or bark, 10g of Angelica dahurica, 5g of licorice, boil and drink. Or use 16g of dried leaves, boil and drink during the day.

* Flatulence, heartburn, belching, bloating: Use fresh lolot leaves, burn, grind into powder and drink. This method, according to folk experience, is very effective.

Combing hair: Chop fresh bark into small pieces and soak in water. Use this water to comb hair, hair will be smooth and silky like combing hair. Use water from the leaves of the lolot tree to comb hair without worrying about scalp allergies, easy to wash off, no oil left behind.
