On September 20, a VNA reporter in Cairo quoted a security source as saying that a bomb exploded outside the Public Services Office of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Mohandessin district, located in the west of the capital Cairo.

According to the source, no one was injured in the explosion. The bomb was detonated at the security forces deployed outside the office.

The explosion came just hours after another bomb planted outside the Ghanaian Embassy in Egypt, also in the Mohandessin district, was defused.

Egypt has seen a series of bombings targeting security forces and public service offices since former President Mohamed Morsi was ousted in 2013. Most of the attacks have been blamed on the banned Muslim Brotherhood.

Recently, radical Islamic forces have expanded their attacks to include foreign diplomatic missions in Egypt. On July 11, a large explosion occurred outside the Italian Consulate in Cairo, causing part of the front of the building to collapse and killing one person.

Last September, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry headquarters in central Cairo was rocked by a bomb attack that killed three police officers.
