Mr. Vu Ngoc Tien - Chairman of Nga Thanh Commune People's Committee admitted that the wives and children of many commune officials, including his wife, were assigned to other people's poor households. However, Mr. Tien explained that "he did not know when his wife was assigned to a poor household". He affirmed that the process of reviewing poor households in the locality was carried out seriously.

Regarding the list of poor households with Mr. Tien's wife's name signed and approved by him, he explained that "because I was busy with many things, I did not pay attention to the list submitted by the professional staff."
