Four NATO member countries want Russia to protect them if attacked
That is the result of a global survey conducted by sociologists from the WIN/Gallup International Association. Accordingly, the majority of those surveyed, citizens of Bulgaria, Greece, Slovenia and Türkiye, chose Russia.

Meanwhile, some Bulgarians and Greeks call Türkiye the main security threat.
Notably, Türkiye is also a member of NATO and, in theory, Ankara should be seen as an ally by the people of those countries.
Most respondents want a US military presence on their country's territory.
However, researchers note a positive reaction to the change in the international security structure in the post-Cold War period, which is that the Chinese chose Russia as their desired ally. In turn, the Russians also chose China.
According to WIN/Gallup Association Vice President Kancho Stoychev, the results show that US policy over the past twenty years has led to a rapprochement between Moscow and Beijing.
The poll was conducted by the WIN/Gallup Association among more than 1,000 people in 66 countries.
