One of the new features that creates an interesting impression for many city residents as well as tourists is the green trash bins.

In 2009, Vinh City People's Committee installed public trash bins on some main roads. The trash bins were made of hard plastic, and due to the hot weather in the Central region, after a short time of use, the trash bins were aging and damaged. In addition, due to the low awareness of people in waste classification, some people even put cement and lime mortar into the trash bins, causing them to freeze, and children broke and stole plastic to sell as scrap. The management, operation, inspection and repair of trash bins by Nghe An Urban Environment Company Limited has not received due attention, the company does not have a specialized team to inspect and collect trash in trash bins. Trash left for a long time gives off a foul smell, spills out, and trash bins are broken and damaged, causing loss of urban beauty. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Vinh City's founding and receiving the Third Class Independence Medal, the idea of ​​installing green trash bins to serve tourists to dispose of waste while still creating urban beauty for Vinh City was considered by the leaders of Nghe An Urban Environment Company Limited. After many visits to learn from other provinces and foreign countries, the company chose the option of making trash bins from precast thin-walled concrete, painted green, with a door to throw trash, take trash underneath, and the top compartment used as a flower pot. The thin-walled concrete material overcomes the weaknesses of the previous plastic trash bins, can withstand the harsh weather of the Central region, is not stolen, and has green trees on top, creating a harmonious, unique look.

The company has installed 76 green trash bins on the sidewalks on the main roads around Ho Chi Minh Square such as Ho Tung Mau, Truong Thi, Nguyen Du and Le Mao streets. To preserve and operate the trash bins well, Nghe An Urban Environment Company Limited has built a software to manage the trash bin locations using a network. The company assigns production teams on each road to clean the trash bins daily, regularly clean the trash bins, and not leave trash for more than 12 hours a day. At the same time, there is a specialized employee who coordinates with the inspection of the trash bin system. If violations or damage are detected, they will be promptly corrected and repaired.

However, Mr. Khanh also added some difficulties if the trash bins are deployed widely, especially when they are placed in front of residential areas. Due to the low awareness of people in waste classification, many types of waste containing dirty water often overflow, causing a foul smell, and hardened cement and lime waste damage the trash bins. If the management and operation are not good, the trash bins will be damaged after a period of use, causing an unpleasant effect on the urban landscape. In addition, due to the harsh weather, especially in the hot season, many types of ornamental plants cannot withstand high temperatures and are easily wilted, so the care of ornamental plants also needs to be paid attention to by Vinh City Green Park Joint Stock Company and plants that can withstand high temperatures such as cacti should be selected.

To overcome the above difficulties, in addition to the efforts of the staff and workers of Vinh Urban Environment Company Limited, it is necessary to attach responsibility to the community, assigning trash bins in each area to the block of hamlets for management, and the trash bin located in front of each family is the family responsible for looking after it.
