After the women's doubles, the men's doubles pair Tran Tuan Quynh and Nguyen Anh Tu took on Ibrahim and Muhamad from Malaysia. The first set was tense, with the Vietnamese pair and the Malaysian pair fighting for every point. However, at the decisive moment, when the score was 10-10, Tuan Quynh and Anh Tu were more courageous, taking two consecutive points to end the set with a score of 12-10.

In the second set, the Vietnamese pair lost their form and continuously lost points. Despite their best efforts, Tuan Quynh and Anh Tu still lost with a score of 8-11.

But in the third set, Tuan Quynh regained his form, continuously scoring beautiful points. The veteran player also kept reminding Anh Tu to help his junior regain his composure and play with more confidence. The more they played, the more the Vietnamese duo showed their superiority over their opponents. Tuan Quynh - Anh Tu quickly won the third set with a score of 11-6. They quickly closed the match with a score of 3-1, when they won the fourth set with a big difference of 11-4, earning a ticket to the quarterfinals.

"Tuan Quynh and Anh Tu had an excellent match, overcoming Malaysia's strongest pair. This year, we expect the men's doubles to advance to the semi-finals. In addition to Tuan Quynh and Anh Tu, we also have the pair Quanh Linh and Van Nam," coach Le Xuan Phong shared.

Tuan Quynh is a veteran player of Vietnamese table tennis.

Previously, Tuan Quynh shared that this was an extremely difficult SEA Games for Vietnamese table tennis. The reason was that besides an overwhelmingly strong Singapore, several other countries in the Southeast Asian region were also naturalizing athletes. The hope of Vietnamese table tennis was all focused on the doubles events.

The victories of the pairs Tuan Quynh - Anh Tu and Nguyen Thi Nga - Vu Thi Ha helped Vietnamese table tennis have a successful opening match, although in the first match of the day, the women's pair Mai Hoang My Trang and Phan Hoang Tuong Giang lost 0-3 to the Thai pair Paranang and Khetkhuan.
