Editor Hoai Anh talks for the first time about her new destination after leaving 7pm News
In an interview with VietNamNet, Editor Hoai Anh shared sincerely about the qualities of a journalist, inspiring young people who are passionate about the profession.
- June 21st has just passed, you must have received many congratulations from the audience and colleagues. With many years of experience in this field, what would you like to say to young people who are passionate about journalism?
For me, not only journalism but any job requires a heart. Especially in journalism, you have the means and the voice to speak out about an issue. If you put your heart into every word, even your criticism will be constructive. Without heart, criticism will be judgmental, even condemnatory.
The heart helps journalists not to judge the issue one-sidedly, to have an objective, clear view and to assess the issue clearly and honestly, but also to have enough sharing and sympathy. As a MC, I believe that MCing is not just about speaking, but also knowing how to listen. Listening shows respect, understanding and empathy for the person you are talking to. Listening to decide what to say to "hit the mark". Speaking without listening is not MCing, but just a monologue.
- More than 5 months after you left the 7pm News, many viewers still feel regretful and ask why Hoai Anh moved to a new job without a thorough answer. Why is that? Are there any stories from fans that make you emotional about saying goodbye to the most popular and prestigious program like 7pm News?
What touched me the most was probably the anticipation of the audience. There is a poem an audience member gave me adapted from a poem in the songI got marriedby Han Mac Tu, the original text is: "Tomorrow I will quit being a poet. You got married and your dreams are gone!". I would like to borrow 2 lines of poetry written by Han Mac Tu for his lover Kim Cuc to talk about the news that BTV Hoai Anh stopped hosting VTV news program! Sad and a little shocked! "Tomorrow I won't even bother watching TV, you changed jobs and I don't want to watch anymore!". The adapted poem is very witty but also brings a lot of emotion to me.

There are also many other greetings that make me feel really attached to my audience. I truly appreciate these feelings and hope to continue to receive your support and encouragement on the new journey and new programs!
- After leaving News, you regularly appeared on 'Art and Culture Space'. Can you tell the audience more about this program?
Most of the programs of the Arts Department are talk shows with guests, recorded in advance and then broadcast. To have 45 minutes of airtime, we have to record an average of about 2 hours, and on some days the program has many issues and deep content, it takes 3 hours or more to finish.
To host a talk show of this type, the host needs to be very proactive in asking questions and must respond appropriately to the guest's answers, to ask follow-up questions that are relevant and follow up with what the guest just said, or to make on-target comments.
The current program I am assigned to isCultural and artistic space, broadcast at 9:45 every Sunday morning on VTV1. I am very happy because through this program I get to meet my dear audience again. I hope that you will spend your relaxing weekend mornings accompanying the program, following the extremely rich issues in all fields of culture, art, music, painting, literature...

- Since you moved from News to the Arts Department, how do you feel about your "new home"?
Each Department has its own style and nature of work, so the working environment is also different. The new house is a place full of culture and art, where I can rub shoulders with culture and art more. To have a deep understanding of this field is not easy and the programs I am hosting, although cultural and artistic, are still political and in-depth, with guests besides artists who are also journalists, experts, critics, theorists... Therefore, I also have to cultivate, read more knowledge and information about this field, ask more senior colleagues who have many years of working in the field of culture and art, and talk more with experts to best understand the issues I edit and lead.
The decision to move to a new field is my own. Therefore, I would like to thank the leaders and colleagues who have welcomed and created conditions for me to try my hand and develop my abilities in a new field. No matter what program I am in, I am still a VTV person and wish to contribute and dedicate myself to that common home.

- In your free time, what do you and your family usually do?
I like to take my children on trips because they are interesting and give them many experiences. Not only that, but spending time doing something together will help us bond more closely.
