Currently, Tan Ky is actively directing the efforts to reach the new rural finish line in Tan Phu commune, and strongly promoting the spirit of building new rural areas throughout the area. By October 2014, the district had 2 communes achieving 16-19 new rural criteria; 9 communes achieving 10-15 criteria; 9 communes achieving 5-9 criteria. The new rural construction program has mobilized 62 billion VND from Tan Ky people and children living far from home (including 25 billion VND in cash, 411,927m3 of land; 150,000 working days). Of which, 1 individual living far from home contributed 1.5 billion VND. From the new rural area, the district has built 74 km of concrete roads, hundreds of km of intra-field roads and mobilized tens of billions of VND to build other social security infrastructure works...
In agriculture, Tan Ky has a model of growing hot peppers for export to Korea in Nghia Binh, Nghia Dung, and Song Con communes with nearly 100 hectares; the district is also the second largest sugarcane granary in the province with nearly 7,000 hectares; the rubber area currently reaches 2,526 hectares, an increase of 564 hectares compared to 2010; building a large-scale field model in Nghia Thai commune... Tan Ky is also a "barn" of forest seedlings for many provinces. All are linked with enterprises for processing and consumption, opening up many new business directions for farmers, especially the Thai and Tho people in the area. Many Tho families have an income of 300 - 500 million VND/year thanks to accumulating large areas of sugarcane land.
In recent years, agricultural and rural development in Tan Ky has been "stimulated" for investment with a series of models to be replicated, demonstrating the attention of the Party Committee and the Tan Ky government; each model is invested by the district with 30 - 50 million VND such as: Growing PQ1 tangerines in Tan An, raising pigs for meat, growing green squash, raising black chickens, red tilapia, raising breeding cows, wild boars... Tan Ky District People's Council has annually included in the Resolution on resources to "stimulate" agriculture and rural areas. Thanks to that, the value of agricultural, forestry and fishery production has developed quite well, the average growth rate of agricultural, forestry and fishery production value in the 4 years (2011 - 2014) is estimated at 7.5%. Maintaining a stable economic growth rate of 9.5%, higher than the average of the province. Total production value in 2013 was 3,638 billion VND, an increase of 32.49% compared to 2010; in 2014 it reached 3,958 billion, an increase of 48%.
Contributing to the economic growth of Tan Ky is the dynamism and boldness of many people to do business. Mr. Bui Ba Hoi in Thung Mon, Dong Van commune is an example. In a remote commune with difficult farming conditions, he only knew how to look at the hills and fields, so Mr. Hoi rented a machine to level the entire hill behind his house and converted it into a fish pond. In 2011, he continued to reclaim 2 hectares of rocky land, investing 34 million VND in sugarcane planting costs with a yield of 70 - 80 tons/ha. Thanks to the improved family economy, Mr. Hoi was able to build a spacious house and send two children to university. He also guided production techniques and disseminated economic development support policies to the people as the hamlet chief. Meanwhile, the family of Mr. Nguyen Huu Hai in hamlet 8, Tien Ky commune currently has an impressive property with a pig farm of more than 110 pigs and a spacious tiled house with wood paneling on all sides. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh, Mr. Hai's wife, said that thanks to a loan of 100 million VND from the Agricultural Bank, Tan Ky branch, with an interest rate of 1.1%/month, their family has been able to raise 4 litters of pigs in a year, each litter produces 1.2 tons of meat, and their income from pig farming has reached 200 million VND. They also raise 2,000 chickens and plant 30,000 cajuput trees for timber. Their family's economic life is also favorable thanks to the local government, departments and branches creating favorable conditions to help with loan procedures and providing guidance on farming techniques.
Households that benefit from the Resolution of the term and the policies of the Party and the State to rise up and get rich like Mr. Bui Ba Hoi, Nguyen Huu Hai or Mr. Dau Tien Sy in Tan An, Nguyen Van Trinh in Hamlet 1, Nghia Hanh are not rare in Tan Ky district. The district has built 26 good production and business models with investment from the district, mainly in livestock, cultivation, farm economic development and small-scale industry. In nearly 1 term, Tan Ky has built 14 economic development projects, 7 cultural and social development programs, 2 resolution programs to ensure national defense and security. Many of these projects have been very effective in practice such as: Livestock development project in the district, Project to mobilize resources to implement the national target program on new rural construction, Project on building a strong and comprehensive political system at the grassroots level, etc.
In the past 4 years, Tan Ky has opened 87 vocational classes (including livestock farming, aquaculture, clean vegetable growing, agricultural machinery repair, mulberry growing, brocade weaving, etc.) for 2,692 farmers to participate. The district has conducted 208 training sessions on technology transfer with 11,551 participants, and 5 training classes on the Law on Cooperatives. The district also guarantees loans for farmers to develop production such as buying agricultural machinery, seeds, and fertilizers. The district also cares about building cooperatives and developing small-scale industries in the area. Industrial products increased in 2014 such as: sugar increased by 24.7%, sand increased by 12.6%, construction stone increased by 45%, bricks and tiles increased by 10%. The Cua - Nghia Hoan tile village cooperative has been interested in building a headquarters and convenient traffic infrastructure, the silkworm farming and brocade weaving professions have been restored in many communes such as Dong Van, Tien Ky, Nghia Dong... Tan Ky has now achieved more important targets: budget revenue reached 25/23 billion VND of the plan, creating new jobs for 1,250 workers/1,000 people. The poverty rate decreased to 4.4/5.05% of the plan. The rate of rural population with access to clean water increased. The district has also mobilized and built 1,551 houses for poor households. These are results that not every district can achieve.
Besides the achievements, in the past 4 years, Tan Ky has not attracted any new projects to the area to create more development momentum. The district has "stimulated" agriculture quite well, but industry and services have not been achieved and are still quite far from the plan (21% of industrial production value/plan is 48%). This also explains why although some communes are very dynamic, dare to think, dare to do, the agricultural structure is still dominant such as in Nghia Dong, Tan An... Tan Ky has not yet met the targets of standard schools, national standard communes in health... however, this is understandable because it depends on public investment. Besides, economic growth is not high, not meeting the requirements of development goals.
To successfully implement the targets set for this term, according to Mr. Pham Van Hoa - Chairman of Tan Ky District People's Committee: The district will continue to direct the implemented programs and projects, especially directing the construction and replication of effective economic models to increase people's income; complete the land consolidation and plot exchange work according to Directive 08/TU of the Provincial Party Standing Committee... and especially strive to direct to achieve the highest target set by the Resolution of the District Party Congress for the 2010-2015 term on new rural construction (15-20% of communes meeting the standards). In the construction industry, there will be additional investment in the tunnel brick production project in Ky Son commune, investment in the road to the center of Phu Son commune, Tan Hop commune and Thung Khien eco-tourism area, the inner-city road of the town, irrigation reservoirs in the area,... Deploying the construction of the road project to the center of Tien Ky commune, the road from the Youth Volunteer Team 4 to Tan Hop commune, Nghia Phuc - Giai Xuan road...
