New step forward in Cua tile village
(Baonghean) - Coming to Tan Ky, we were boasted by the Secretary of the District Party Committee: "Cua tile craft village is preparing to inaugurate a high-quality tile production line with a capacity of 40 million tiles/year, inviting journalists to come and see". We witnessed with our own eyes the new line of tiles running on a modern, automatically controlled conveyor belt...
The Cua tile craft village is famous not only in Nghe An province but also in the whole country, but for a long time the village has been facing challenges in technological innovation to ensure the environment, comply with the policy of eliminating manual brick kilns of the Government and the province. Such a major policy must be followed, but how are the lives and jobs of thousands of people in the craft village? This concern is not only of the craft village but also of the leaders of Tan Ky district, of the Department of Science and Technology of Nghe An province. There must be innovative solutions in production technology, applying scientific advances to reduce labor, while still maintaining production and business of the craft village. Tan Ky district People's Committee decided to choose the unit to preside over and manage the project: "Supporting the construction of a model of applying scientific and technological advances to produce high-quality Cua tiles in the craft village of Nghia Hoan commune - Tan Ky". The unit in charge of the project is the Cua tile craft village cooperative, and the project manager is assigned to Mr. Nguyen Van Ha - Head of the district's Industry and Trade Department.
Mr. Nguyen Van Ha said: Cua tiles are currently being consumed strongly in many provinces such as Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh...; the Intellectual Property Office has granted a trademark on April 10, 2007, but the tile production process of the craft village in the soil preparation stage is using a system of rolling machines, sand filtering machines, soil extruders, tile breaking machines and manual burning. Therefore, the pressed tiles are not smooth, shiny, and still contain sand. The finished tiles after burning have many bumps on the surface, sometimes cracked, and the tile quality is not high. The selling price is therefore still low compared to many other products on the market. To improve the quality of Cua tiles, create high value, and save resources, it is extremely necessary to support the construction of a model of applying scientific and technological advances to produce high-quality tiles in Nghia Hoan - Tan Ky craft village.

After visiting and learning from many provinces in the North, Tan Ky Industry and Trade Department and Cua Tile Village realized that the tile production model in Quang Ninh meets the set criteria, is suitable for Tan Ky's conditions, ensures the environment, transfer costs and reasonable investment in technology application, so they proposed to transfer and apply it to Cua Tan Ky Tile Village. Up to now, the production line has been successfully installed and started to go into effective production.
At the high-quality Cua tile factory, dozens of young workers are excitedly welcoming the new line of tiles running out on the conveyor belt. For them, this is a strange thing because up to now, their ancestors had to laboriously knead and extrude manually through many stages. In particular, in the past, the exploited soil had to be composted for 3 months, but now the machine system grinds the soil and presses it until it is smooth and shiny. Mr. Nguyen Van Hanh, Head of the Cua Brick and Tile Cooperative, excitedly explained: Clay is exploited from the raw material area, gathered in the factory's warehouse, then put into the feed tank, then put into the rough cutting machine, then put into the rough grinding machine, fine cutting machine, fine grinding machine, then put into the vacuum forming machine and finally the product is produced. Thanks to this, the tile products have high adhesion, are shiny, smooth, beautiful, crack-free, and have no impurities because they are filtered right from the start.
According to calculations, the cost of producing high-quality tiles is equivalent to the cost of producing normal door tiles, however, with that scale, that capacity requires 300 workers to produce, while here only about 30 people are needed. Duc - a machine operator said: The production line is operated by pressing buttons, safe and highly productive. Duc also said that the salary here is 6 million VND/month for each person.
The production line was invested with nearly 10 billion VND, of which 53 members contributed 8.9 billion VND, the budget supported by science sources was 309 million VND. The members participating in the investment are those with economic potential and want to do business long-term, and comply with the State's policy of eliminating manual brick kilns. Many people borrowed from banks to have enough money to invest in the production line. The factory was invested in upgrading so that bricks and tiles do not have to worry about being damaged during the rainy season. The power station was also newly invested, so the power loss has been reduced compared to before.
The new high-quality Cua tile line is being prepared for the first batches to be fired. Everyone is eagerly welcoming this unprecedented event in the Cua tile craft village, the tiles are being offered at a slightly higher price than the old Cua tiles to compete. This is a new step forward for the Cua tile craft village - Nghia Hoan - Tan Ky to provide the market with increasingly high-quality products and to help the craft village survive sustainably.
Cua tile craft village's revenue in 2013 reached 114 billion VND with 616,500 machine-made tiles and 1.12 million cow-made tiles. The craft village paid 120 million VND in business license tax, 185.3 million VND in environmental resource tax, and 1.323 billion VND in VAT. The craft village was recognized as a craft village by Nghe An Provincial People's Committee in 2006 and was awarded a certificate of recognition as a typical craft village nationwide for 5 consecutive years by the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance. |
