Afternoon of the home teams
(Baonghean) - After the Lunar New Year break, yesterday afternoon (February 9), the 4th round of Vleague 2014 took place on football fields across the country. In this "opening" match of the new year, every team tried to win, but the joy almost only came to the home team except for the match at Ninh Binh Stadium which ended in a draw.
In the first match taking place at 3pm on February 9, at Cam Pha Stadium, Than Quang Ninh defeated Dong Tam Long An with 3 goals to nil. Before the match, the team that had just been promoted to Vleague this season encountered some "scandals" such as the rookies not playing with all their heart because of money issues... This made many fans of the home team worried because it could affect the outcome of the match. But contrary to many people's predictions, right after the opening whistle, Coach Cao Dinh Nghia's students played with great determination as if nothing had happened.
Although the match was pushed up and somewhat pressured, at the end of the first half, the home team still had no opening goal because the Long An players also played very disciplined, tight and occasionally had a few opportunities after sharp counter-attacks. Entering the second half, the home team Than Quang Ninh increased the speed of attack in order to win at home. Finally, after a lot of effort, the goal came to the home team in the 72nd minute. Substitute midfielder Xuan Ngoc had an accurate finish that broke the net of goalkeeper Tien Phong, in the explosion of the fans of the mining team. The goal to break the deadlock made the Than Quang Ninh players feel like they had relieved the psychological burden, thanks to which they scored 2 more goals. 3 points remained at Cam Pha Stadium, while Dong Tam Long An team, after this defeat, fell to 11th place in the rankings.
After the first match took place for 1 hour, all the teams competing in this round took to the field. Fans across the country turned their attention to the highlight match of round 4, HAGL team hosted SLNA players at Pleiku stadium.

In this match, Nigerian striker Timothy Anjembe scored a hat-trick to help HAGL beat SLNA 3-1, which was considered the biggest surprise of the round. Although SLNA lost right at Vinh Stadium in the previous round, in terms of strength, the Nghe An team is still a strong team and one of the candidates for the Vleague championship this season. Entering the match, coach Nguyen Huu Thang's team entered the game very well and they dominated the game. However, when the away team's players had no plan to approach goalkeeper Bassey Akpan's goal, goalkeeper Nguyen Manh (SLNA) faced a dangerous situation in the 11th minute.
Fortunately, Timothy failed to finish. The home team played more and more excitedly, making the SLNA defense confused. In the 22nd minute, center back Ngoc Hai was forced to commit a foul in the penalty area and received a penalty. Timothy successfully executed the penalty, 1-0 in favor of HAGL. Just 8 minutes after the first goal, Timothy continued to shine, doubling the gap after a hook shot while the away team's goalkeeper was out of the goal. Before the end of the first half, hero Timothy scored a hat-trick, raising the score to 3-0. After the break, SLNA made some adjustments, the away team proactively pushed up their formation to find a goal. In the 54th minute, Biyaga Emile fired a beautiful shot from the edge of the penalty area, shortening the score to 3-1. The final whistle sounded, neither side scored another goal, 3 points remained at Pleiku Stadium, Cong Vinh and his teammates had to suffer their second consecutive loss. As for the HAGL players, winning against a strong opponent has dispelled doubts about the ambition and quality of the players, especially the hero of this match - Timothy.
While the two teams HAGL and SLNA had a decisive match in the mountain town, the top team Thanh Hoa also had a difficult match at home. Welcoming the rich team B. Binh Duong - a team that has invested heavily in the recent transfer market and is very eager to win. However, the Thanh team still knew how to keep 3 points to firmly consolidate the top position. In some other matches, V. Ninh Binh and SHB Da Nang shared points in a match in which each side scored 1 goal. And in the latest match of round 4, at home at Lach Tray, Hai Phong defeated An Giang with a score of 2-0.
The 4th round of Vleague yesterday afternoon (February 9) was extremely exciting, with many goals scored and many surprising results... This is good news for Vietnamese football fans. Hopefully with the success of this spring opening round, we will be able to live in the festive atmosphere of Vietnamese football in 2014.
