Dien Chau General Hospital: Temporarily suspend 1 doctor and 2 midwives

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 11, Dr. Tran Khac Tien, Director of Dien Chau General Hospital, said that the hospital has temporarily suspended the professional activities of Dr. Cao Thi Huong and two midwives Nguyen Thi Giang and Ho Thi Tinh. This is the team that monitored and cared for the ill-fated mother and child Vo Thi Van (village 4 Dien Xuan).

As previously reported, at around 11:30 a.m. on March 8, Ms. Vo Thi Van (Dien Xuan, Dien Chau) showed signs of reincarnation so she was taken to Dien Chau General Hospital.

At 8:40 p.m. the same day, the woman had pain and felt tired. Doctors examined her and found no uterine contractions, then discovered that her uterus had ruptured.

Immediately afterwards, the mother was taken to the operating table to remove the fetus. By 9:47 p.m. the same day, the mother had died, and the fetus (a baby girl) had also died before that.

Regarding this incident, on March 9, Director of the Department of Maternal and Child Health (Ministry of Health) Luu Thi Hong signed Official Dispatch No. 1497/BYT-BM-TE to Nghe An Department of Health requesting a clear report on the incident.

Dr. Tien added that in addition to the temporary suspension, the hospital also required the doctors and midwives to write a report on the incident. The hospital will hold a meeting and take strict disciplinary action if any mistakes are found.
