Despite being unfortunately eliminated in the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup (with equal points and goal difference with China, but losing the head-to-head match), the Thai national team was also somewhat consoled. With a 3-1 victory over Singapore last night, the "War Elephants" were awarded 8.05 points to climb 2 places, returning to the world's Top 100. In the most recent ranking announced on April 4, Thailand ranked 101st in the world.
In this round of qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup, Thailand played quite impressively. On June 6, they held China to a 1-1 draw in Shenyang (earning 1.58 points). Last night, they won convincingly 3-1 against Singapore, earning 8.05 points. Currently, Thailand is ranked 16th in Asia and is still number one in Southeast Asia.

A few days after the 3-2 victory over the Philippines and the addition of 10.38 points, the Vietnam national team suffered a predicted 1-3 defeat in Iraq, and was deducted 6.9 points. Compared to the time after the match against the Philippines, the Vietnam national team has dropped 2 places, and compared to the beginning of April, we have dropped 1 place to 116th in the world.
Before the match with Iraq, Vietnam was certain to not be able to continue to the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Asia, as Indonesia decided its own fate by defeating the Philippines 2-0. The goal of Kim Sang Sik and his team will now be the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, which will start from March next year. Vietnam is in the number 1 seed group, along with Syria, Tajikistan, Thailand, Lebanon, and India.

In the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia, Southeast Asia had 7 teams participating, 6 of which were eliminated. The only representative of Southeast Asia to make it to the third qualifying round was Indonesia, the team ranked second in Group F with 10 points, above Vietnam (8) and the Philippines (1). On June 6, Indonesia was deducted 5.71 points for losing 0-2 to Iraq, but then they were awarded 11.72 points for beating the Philippines 2-0. Currently, Indonesia is ranked 133rd in FIFA, 1 point above the 4th Southeast Asian team Malaysia.
